It is sad but an important point that Ornstein's high perch has been knocked down a few pegs the last year or so. He infamously whiffed on Arsenal not spending any money last summer as well. I am hopeful but also we need to wait for another top tier journo. AllyG would be great right about now for a level set.

In the Athletic article there’s also this bit with a new striker name.

Who else are Spurs hoping to sign this window?

The last piece of the jigsaw for Spurs will be a back-up centre-forward to take the burden off Harry Kane.

Spurs don’t have the money for a top player, so ideally it will be an experienced target man. Alexander Sorloth, on loan to Trabzonspor from Crystal Palace, is in the frame, along with Habib Diallo of Metz and Bas Dost of Frankfurt. Spurs are considering Wout Weghorst of Wolfsburg too.

IF we got bale and reguilon I would be too upset with weghorst or diallo, considering what we thought would’ve happened at the start of the season

why are Real Madrid happy to let him go? Just deemed to be behind Mendy and Marcelo?

I can’t see them letting a young player leave with no buy back option - especially with the age of Marcelo now...

Knowing Madrid they probably have 12 in the youth team exactly like him.
