Haha. Absolutely, but we have always had some surprisingly good individual players - even when the team was oh so average.

That might be the 4 worst years when you see them as one period, but as already mentioned Sullivan had a freakishly good season and ""%"#% could we have had some good use for Carr from back then now.

Also easy to forget seeing how average Davies' career ended up being how good he was for a short spell back then. Obviously not world class or anything, but he would have played for us now based on the form he had in that season.

Davies was quality, my favourite player at the time. However injuries really did mess him up a lot I feel; would have gone to UTD.

Carr won it two of Ginola’s three seasons, including the season Ginola was player of the year. These awards only serve to show that we are too expectant of our flair players and really love a trier.

For fuck sake, Gazza singlehandedly got us to the 91 cup final and Paul Allen got the award.

Another prime example being when Sissoko narrowly missed out on POTS last season yet we love a trier so much that the legends got together and gave him a special 'pat on the head' legends' POTS.

I admire how hard Sissoko worked last season and he put in some great performances but I still reckon a lot of the praise for him was borne of how low the expectations were after his abysmal first few seasons.

It's like the football equivalent of the "Most Improved Student" award at school.
