Sonny makes Garth Crooks' team of the week!

"Son Heung-min: If ever Tottenham needed a performance out of Son Heung-min, then this was it. In the absence of Harry Kane, Spurs are struggling up front. Son is a runner and not a natural striker with his back to goal, which leaves Spurs lacking someone who can hold and retain the ball. " ?

Crooks is an absolute fraud. His team of the week is always made up of the players that score. It's all he sees.

He isn't on top attacking form but the amount of work he got through defensively against City was huge and I'm sure that he is losing attacking sharpness by having to follow team orders. It all links back to not having a top defensive midfielder. I imagine Jose has someone in mind for the summer.

In our early to mid days under Pochettino playing 4231 the best combination behind Kane involved Lamela Alli Eriksen or Chadli

Chadli / a Eriksen / Townsend mainly in his first season, very VERY inconsistent they were too!

Dele’s first season (and Poch’s second) I think Chadli may have already gone as pretty sure it was mainly Lamela / Dele / Eriksen having switched Dele and Dembele around. Son also played a few times but had an injury then struggled for form when got fit having shown early promise.

Let’s be honest his shot was going straight at ederson and was quite poor if it wasn’t for that deflection.

He is definitely not in form at the moment and seems to be lacking confidence in front of goal. It happens though and he’s still a quality player.

Definitely seen an improvement in sons off the ball and defensive work under Jose.

He's scored 3 in 3? He's not playing particularly well but I think that's because our attackers aren't playing well as a unit with no one to link them together.

Last year it seemed not human how he just kept on going playing all those games for his national team. To me it just looks like reality is finally catching up a bit. I'm sure he'll bounce back, but he really can't go on playing this amount of games. Especially as his natural way of playing is that high energy style. Without energy he is still good, but nothing special. With energy he is a top class attacker.

If the wonderful world of the internet is to be believed this was only Son's 7th penalty in his career. All previous 6 were for South Korea with 3 scored and 3 missed!

I'm sure I remember him taking one in the FA Cup last year (may be year before). He scored but it was disallowed because he stopped in his run up.

Lets use our brains not our hearts, cannot tackle or when he does so gets sent off (may chase back but then puts no physical pressure on opponents), has too often poor first touch, poor decision making and passing, falls over under any physical challenge and then claims foul, BUT then produces moments of brilliance. How can annyone with so much skill be so average all too often. He to me is so frustrating, could be one of the best in the World, but does he have the bottle or desire to achieve this, one problem is that he is too nice without that nastiness to succeed.

Getting a bit tedious that every radio program since the penalty has been acting like Son's the first guy to ever dive - not even really debating if it was a dive, just going on about this like it's some sudden epidemic.

I was listening to the same bullshit posturing from pundits fifteen years ago, then ten years ago when they were all cheering on the strikers, when players were "anticipating contact" and "boots are much less supportive now", it's just fake shock to draw dumb fans into arguments.

Son may have scored if he'd stayed on his feet, if he could - he looked way off balance a stride before that for the move he would've had to have made to avoid the inevitable so, yeah, he did "draw the foul" - exactly like every other player in every league around the world will do if given the opportunity.

I think the fact that refs wont give a foul unless the player "goes down" is apart of the problem.

When was the last time an attacker was fouled in the box, stayed on their feet, and still won a pen.

Can't remember ever seeing it.

If your are fouled, it should be a foul whether you stay on your feet on not.

But if they don’t go down the comment will be the contact wasn’t enough to warrant a pen
