I disagree that he's undeserving. Of course, these conversations are always based on the assumption that they work hard in training but I don't think he got the game time his cameo performances earnt.

I don't think his lack of inclusion is because of him. I think it's because Conte doesn't like rotation.

It can't be that only 11 players work hard enough to earn starts every week
Yet Conte often rotates key positions like wingback…

Bergwijn’s issue is that he offers a lot of what Son offers at a much lower quality and consistency level. He had a stoking performance against Leicester but where were all these big impacts from the bench? I’m not having a dig at him but often when he has come on he has been a willing runner but hasn’t been a game changer or offered us a really different option.

Son Kane and Kulu have worked so well as they each offer something different. Lucas as a first change offers a dribbling and directness that the others don’t which changes the way teams are defending. Bergwijn doesn’t do that

We can definitely get at least £25m for him.

Ajax will have money to spend after selling Gravenverch, Timber, etc…

I think it's also that Bergwijn is seen more as a striker than a winger, he has almost always been deployed centrally for Conte. We only need two strikers as an impact solution.

Now I would love to keep him and I'm sure Conte would have no complaints, but he wants to leave and he deserves to play regularly.

I think it's more a case of Conte sees him as Son / Kane back up, not Dejan back-up. And Sonny and Kane are not so rotatable. Can just see him leaving and then one of them picks up an injury early next season. Just hope if he does go, we manage to improve on him when replacing him.

I really like Bergwijn and want him to stay. I doubt that we'll sign better as back up.
Of course if he wants to go and we can get 25m plus, fair enough
But I think he would get a lot of game time next season if we make a serious run at a trophy and top four.
Seems like he is being picked by the Dutch team, so maybe he will stay, I hope so.

As a player I'm happy for him to stay.

It appears from the outside that he hasn't really settled and it's time for him to move on. Good squad players are important but it's my view that players of Bergwijn's age and ability will only be happy to be a bit part player for so long.

Unless he's happy here, determined to make a success of it and willing to spend another season as a squad player then it's time for him to go.

I think he’s just a player who is average at a lot of things but nothing stands out. Average pace, dribbling, creativity and crossing. Needs to excel at one of these things to really make an impact.

True. After his goal against City I was hoping for him initially to be a goalscoring option with a decent all-round game and hopefully develop in time.

I like him and think he's decent but won't be a huge loss.

Can't blame him for wanting to be a starter ahead of the world cup really. He'll never start unless Son is injured/suspended.

I'm surprised Newcastle aren't all over this. At ~25m he'd be great value for them. Hasn't shone at Spurs, but with regular game time he is surely a starter at most clubs looking to cement a position between 5th and 10th, which is (realistically) what they should be aiming for in the short term.

Absolutely not up for selling anything other than genuine cast offs to Newcastle.

Has to go for he’s own sake.

Think he will find the eredevisie too easy now. This one gives me Mo Salah Chelsea vibes not quite to the same extent but he’s a talented player and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him back in the prem in a few.

I must say that I'm surprised at the number of fans who thinks that Bergwjin is going to become this great player after leaving us. I agree that there is talent there that hasn't been fully been captured, but he's made over 80 appearances for us spread over three seasons and have failed to consistently contribute in the final third.

- Bergwjin had a good start to his time at Spurs and scored 3 goals in his first 7 games in the league - but from there he only scored 4 goals in his remaining 53 appearances.

- Scored in gameweek 30 of the 19/20 season and didn't score again until gameweek 37 in the 20/21 season. He played 27 league games during this time without getting on the scoresheet.

- Kulusevski has played 30% of Bergwjin's PL appearances and has 1 more G/A than him. Bergwjin has 1 more G/A than Ndombele (one of our worst ever signings, who also plays in midfield) in a similar amount of PL games.

- He has 21 appearances in all cup competition for Spurs, and have scored one goal (League cup quarterfinal against West Ham).

I wish him the best for the future, he seems like a likeable guy and we will always remember him for his Leicester heroics but I'm happy to move on from him as he's failed to live up to expectations as our 5th most expensive player of all time.

£30m would be the price for me, think that's totally fair for a Holland international who we aren't desperate to get rid of. Would be very happy to keep him here if it came to it as he's done well when he's played under Conte. Why should we let him go on the cheap? For me the price is £30m abroad and £40m to a top 4 rival like United who had been interested previously.

His scoring stats are seriously skewed from coming on late in games, and playing right back number two under Mourinho. We've not seen a Bergwijn at his best for us.
As you say he started off great, and ever since "we've" killed his confidence and form.

Has to go, no matter how many excuses are made for him he just hasn't proved, to any manager, he is a viable starter. Strikes me as someone who might improve with more consistent game time, but AC will want someone ready to go and sure he has evaluated SB well enough at this stage to know what's best for the club.

Just a tad bit harsh on a player competing for a spot in the XI with 2 world-class forwards.

I don’t get the sense that Conte is pushing out, rather he wants to leave because he knows he can’t get into the XI in the short term.

It's a shame he joined under the Jose regime because I think that likely started the doubts about being here. Quite difficult to turn that around once your mind is drifting elsewhere.

Unfortunately, Conte came in and Bergwijn was either injured or not frequently playing anyway (can't quite remember), so Conte stuck with Lucas and he wasn't judging Kane or Son.

That would have just confirmed to him he had to move.

I think had Conte arrived shortly after him, he'd be more willing to fight for his place here. Conte, knowing that he wants to leave, won't give him minutes easily.
