Are you far from Pogba, Kanté?

I am not going to say that I am far away, but they are ahead of me. There is work to do, I need to continue to hustle. They became world champions, so automatically they are ahead of me. They have more experience than me too. I see it in training during sequences. These little details, movements, turns. I am eternally unsatisfied, so I will continue to learn.

That last sentence is music to my ears. This kid is a winner and that attitude will rub off on those around him. Dele and Winks are about the same age as him, so hopefully the three can develop a bond and evolve into a complete midfield triangle (6/8/10) for many years to come.

I like that they were direct about the training sessions and the intensity and the way in which he answered, no matter the signing I'm always concerned as to whether they can handle the training but especially with his reputation of his talent allowing him to glide through games with ease but he sounds ready for that step up.

Reading that interview, he sounds like a very thoughtful, impressive and decent human being.

I’m very impressed already, welcome Tanguy. ?

Julien: "The feeling back home in France is this is a club with the best stadium in the world, one of the best training grounds in the world, a team that was quite unlucky not to win the Champions League last season and with one of the best managers in football. Add all those things together and it’s quite something. That’s what Ndombele liked. From a very early stage when he knew about the interest from Spurs he was adamant this was a big club where he would continue his progression, the perfect place to grow and hopefully win things.

The same Jullien Lauren’s who a week before the transfer on live radio that we didn’t have the money to sign Ndombele and wouldn’t get him.
Has anyone heard from @LeParisien recently? I would genuinely be keen to hear his thoughts on this deal now that it's gone through as he was adamant that Ndombele wouldn't see a move to us as a step up. Would be great to hear how he sees the deal.

Jean Michel Aulas, the Lyon President, made a lot of phone calls to clubs for your transfer in recent months. Did you get the feeling that you were being pushed out?
No (laughs). There were moments where it was even funny. I took it well. Maybe it was to inflate the price, I am not at all vexed by it.

I always felt Dembele had that effect, when things were difficult and we were up against a top team he could give us a lift and the players seemed to gain confidence with him in the team.

Although it's a lot to expect of a 22 year old, he needs time to adapt.

That's true too. I always liked Dembele as he was tough with ball talent, rarely lost the ball, was our talisman when things on the team were not clicking but even with all his attributes, his Tackling was good dribbling good and passing good. He couldnt move the ball further forward. His vision didn't reach that far. But a player can't have everything. Mackay had Blanchflower who was the brains.
Ndombele seems to be able to do more. His through balls look great which Dembele lacked and while they say Ndombeles concentration on defence is not 100%,I think he will be more of a CM than a DM for us.
We need to expand our attack quicker. NDombele can do that and all the players, we seem to be looking at seem to be able to dribble and that's another way of finding space.
Too often when the counter wasn't on our moves up field have been labourous and slow

Why is this still in the transfer rumours section? Can it not go in Spurs chat as a normal player thread now??

He’s now with Lyon Community Forum in a swop with Ndombele

So that's how Poch signs players now... Well anything for a signing. :cautious:

Ndombele told L'Equipe (paraphrased)

“The fact that he [Pochettino] wants you, it makes you want to come [work] with him. He was the one who shifted my decision.

“It is difficult to describe but he knows how to touch people, to leave a mark on people. He looked at me in the eyes and said: ‘Come with me..."

“It is these types of little things that made me want to" "I could see that he really, genuinely wanted me, that he genuinely liked me.”

His and Lo Celso style do worry me about the injuries they could face, that's the risk with signing brave players I guess.

And that's exactly why we need one extra body that can do similar to what both can when needed. Eriksen didn't get injuries because he isn't the kind who plays in a way that comes with injuries.

Lo Celso and Ndombele will withoutndoubt pick up knocks and for this reason having someone like Ceballos who has a little bit of quality in what both offer gives us so much depth to not only cover CM but AM as well. We would need another body that offers good levels if and when needed as a clean bill of health player who get some amongst it is a very rare thing.

Those highlights are ridiculous, the game looks very easy for him, I particularly love watching him dominate Man City.
