If we go 433 I don’t see dele making the starting 11, that’s in the case of us signing a proper DM and then ndombele being able to run

He shouldn't be in a 4-3-3 but I'm just not so sure that Jose intends to drop him.

I think Dele could work in a 433 midfield if we have wingers pinning them back. Dele works well finding the half spaces and could do that, but I don't think he's our first choice in that midfield. Honestly, GLC and N'Dombele with a holder would be my preference.

I just think in such a role, there are plenty of other players who could play it better. I could imagine again having the frustrations of Dele moving the ball too slowly. Don't want to turn this into a Dele thread though!

Dele was at his best pulling out to the left and then drifting in late to support Kane. A left back able to do what Rose used to do in terms of covering the whole flank would make Dele an option on the left of the front 3. But then Son and Bergwijn are both best on the left as well, so...

Yeah you could be right there, it just doesn't feel menacing though and like you say Son and Bergwijn would like to occupy that ahead of Dele. Also if we're going to play any sort of counter-attacking football someone with pace would of course be more preferable. I personally see Dele as more of a player who will make the squad look stronger as a whole, but who is not an automatic starter.

God I miss talking tactics, even if it's after watching us just play absolute dog shit :(

Our best player in a PL season where we lost 13 PL games? Wouldn’t be tough mate. We got top 4 because anyone who competed with us for it failed to take advantage of us dropping points. Sissoko was a highlight of course and I’m not disagreeing but going from not being able to construct a simple pass or running with the ball effectively to actually doing simple things a footballer should be doing hardly constitutes being our best player.

The reality is, we’ve went from Modric to Dembele and now we bum and blow about a footballer who can’t pass longer than 5 yards and maybe go on an explosive run every now and then with hardly any conviction at the end.

Revisionism isn’t an issue. I think some fans just need to see Sissoko for who he actually is and think about what he has contributed to this team throughout his whole Tottenham career and not just a 6 month period last season.

We will not reach top 4 or compete for the PL next season with Sissoko starting for a Jose Mourinho team. Simple as.
This x 1000.

I really think that Sissoko's heart and occasional brilliant - and they truly are brilliant - runs have masked a lot of his shortcomings in the eyes of a lot of fans. I think the combination of extremely low expectations, a weak team around him, and his undeniable spirit and commitment during a dark period for the club have some people thinking he should be a guaranteed starter, or at least a first team regular.

The truth is that, even on a good day, Sissoko is still wildly inconsistent and extremely limited in certain areas of his game. He's a useful player to have around the squad and can genuinely change games from time to time, but he wouldn't be getting anywhere near the first 11 of the top teams in Europe. If we seriously want to move forward and challenge for honours we need to move beyond Sissoko, or at least use him as a utility/squad player rather than a regular starter.

Is Ndombele the answer? He certainly has the talent but his application/fitness remains to be seen.

Sissoko definitely isn't the answer, though.

In English media we don’t have money(because stadium which is completely illogical). In foreign medias we have money.

I haven't read much football stuff in the media recently as most of it will just be wild speculation at the moment. Why is that illogical? If we miss out on TV money and prize money this season as well as concerts, etc. for the foreseeable future then the stadium payments could become a drain.

I mean, last year you had Arsenal who spent a lot of money when English media said the opposite. Why is that illogical? We are paying debt for stadium but we aren't the only one. Yes, if current season won't be resumed and next season also will be played behind the doors we won't. And I see the difference between Dan Kilpatrick who is close to the club and in May he won't say that we have X to spend because the situation could change in next few days from losing ~25m to 100m or 200m and Mirror etc who certainly doesn't have any clue about it.

If only Ndombele had Sissoko's spirit & resolve.
Sissoko's willingness got him through some dark times.

Maybe Ndombele does too. Time will tell.

Ultimately though, it's what Jose thinks that counts.

Dele's best performances for us have been starting from a LWF position where he can make runs to get past Kane as an extra forward. He is not a creator, he is strongest when arriving in the box to finish a chance. Think of his goals away at Arsenal (deft chip finish with outside of foot), away at Chelsea (arc'ed run from left to central one touch control and finish, away at Everton diagonal run from left, chest and volleyed finish, headers at WHL against Chelsea (far post headers form the left). But if he plays there in a 4-3-3- then we will need proper width from the LB. With Son, Moura, Bergwijn, already in the squad, Sessegnon yet to develop and rumours of Willian, it would appear Jose prefers disciplined speedsters in the WF positions.
