What's he supposed to do? Leave out our record signing in the exact area we're desperate for players and look like he doesn't know what the fuck he's doing? Or just tell the truth

Do you think players won't pick up on the fact that Mourinho is'nt willing to take 1 for the team?

This is'nt the noughties anymore, the players wield the power now.

He should have kept this in-house.

Now he has supporters turning on a very gifted player who I was happy to pay money to go and see live.

p.s: please don't be holding Erik "made of glass" Lamela up as some kind of hero, the man has hardly strung 10 games together in 5 years.

He doesn't have to publicly demean a player who's suffering from what is probably the single most difficult injury to recover from properly and who has already suffered one recurrence since the original onset of the injury.
Maybe he feels he does have to if the player isn't showing the necessary fortitude to compete in the fiery physical crucible that is the Premier League.

Ridiculous?!?! Really? Keeping things in-house to avoid a media frenzy is ridiculous? And now you've made a decision on a player's character already?

Did Poch callout Lamela? And it feels accurate to suggest that he's been hurt/unavailable for more games than he's been available...and he was unavailable for almost the whole of his first season. Are you consistent here?

Keeping what exactly 'in house' champ? That he hasn't got what it takes? The fact that our most expensive player does not want to play because he's afraid he'll get injured? I think most of the PL is aware that he's been missing from our line ups regularly. Its no secret. What media frenzy? LOL. Most of it would be a meh, anyway!

As to his character, we are 19 games into the season. Its half over. He's been here since pre-season. He hasn't performed. Enough time for everyone to make up their minds.

A few weeks ago Lo Celso was nowhere, today he was first sub off the bench, did well, and may well be starting on Saturday.

Maybe Jose knows a thing or two.

Maybe the players are equally frustrated that Ndombele is never fit, or that he doesn't seem prepared to play even when not injured, when they need him and understand that Mourinho is publicly challenging him to sort it out? Being a manager isn't just about being nice to the players all the time.

Not fit enough to play today and Saturday so rested today is my guess. Sess didn't make the bench against Chelsea but starts today. Hopefully Ndombele starts Saturday.

I agree with this, I think there is a lot of bedwetting here but in reality at this time of year you need to use your whole squad.

Like that time he admitted getting it wrong v Olympiacos?

This is'nt the noughties anymore, the players wield the power now.
So you felt the same when Pochettino put Adebayor, Kaboul and Capoue in their places?

He should have kept this in-house.
You 100% know that this hasn't already been tried, or that this would work, based on your own daily interactions with Ndombele and experience in managing elite athletes?

Now he has supporters turning on a very gifted player who I was happy to pay money to go and see live.
Who is turning on him? All anybody saying is 'woah, manager has latched on to what a lot of us have suspected for a while, hope this means he's going to sort it out'.

p.s: please don't be holding Erik "made of glass" Lamela up as some kind of hero, the man has hardly strung 10 games together in 5 years.
Excluding the first two season's under Pochettino during which he played almost every league match, I take it?

I've watched the press conference and I think there was some undisguised irritation on display from Mourinho with Ndombele's situation, IMO. But I'm inclined to trust Mourinho on this, I can't believe he would overlook Ndombele's obvious footballing qualities if he thought that the player was physically/mentally up to being on the pitch, so I can only assume that Ndombele isn't showing the required physical/mental grit to earn a place in the team right now. I'm leaning more and more towards joining #TeamSpurs_Bear as things stand.
Dude, never go full @Spurs_Bear there is no way back from that. At least at the minute you still have your dignity

Merry Christmas Matthew. I hope you haven’t eaten too much and are still slimmer than Tanguy.
Merry Christmas to you too mate. It’s been far too long I’ve missed you.

I’ll always be slimmer than Tanguy, not sure the same could be said of others though

Fit or no fit, the guy doesn't make an impression of a strong character from the first moment I saw him. In this league, in particular, you need something more than just being a nice guy and a good player - to quote Mourinho.

I’m not so sure about that. He may well have a very niggley injury or he could well be a Ferrari with a Skoda engine

But when he scored a great debut goal for us which I think was an equaliser v Newcastle he ran straight back to the penalty spot to get on with business and look for the winner. Loved that attitude from him so imo it’s far too early to start digging him out

I don't think Mourinho said anything wrong really. We need players with siege mentality and who is willing to give everything on the pitch.

This is a wake up message and if he is good enough he will take that as a fire to ignite his whole self.

Funnily enough was speaking to a Liverpool fan a while back and he was pretty critical of Keita for a similar kind of thing. Mentioned that although he has had injuries, a lot of it was mental in his opinion and felt at times, he just didn't fancy being out there in case he picked up an injury.

Some players who come from overseas just seem to dive right in while others maybe underestimate just how physical and quick the game here and if they pick up an injury or two, just start to shy away somewhat.

Can we not have a big money signing that just works out?! Classic Spurs to spend a club record sum on a top quality midfielder, only for said midfielder to somehow be not fit enough to play 90min after half a season, and then astonishingly ask not to play when he is fit. Ridiculous. If he's injured, he's injured. But even when he's been fit, he's looked gassed after half an hour.

Compare with Lamela, who has had a genuine career threatening injury yet always gives his all.
