Was he like this in his first games under Poch too? I don't really remember him hiding from the ball in his first couple of games as he is now. I might be mistaken.

I don't know why he is afraid of the ball though as he 'rarely loses the ball when he has it.

Disagree rating really? I asked a question because I genuinely cannot remember.

We dont know if there are any mitigating circumstances ,what Jose says to him. How defensive he wants him to play. I know it doesnt change the situation much but we have heard a lot if Jose but almost nothing from NDombeles perspective

After looking more closely at the MNF analysis, I can only hold my hands up and say that that performance was terrible from TN. Tbh I had paid more attention to the overall team performance, than just his. I still believe that the tactics were dreadful & that contributed to the abysmal display, however, there is no getting away from the fact that N'Dombele has been terribly shown up. Would I still publicly shame him? No, my stance hasn't changed, though I'll caveat that with I don't know what Jose has or hasn't been doing already behind the scenes. I'm not sure if we can make something of TN tbh. Massively talented on the ball, without question - but off the ball? My god, I really don't know & I don't even think it's fitness, which is a bigger worry imo. @Ionman34 - I get your point mate.

The good thing is, these kind of questions have been asked of Ndombele before and he has eventually stepped up and sorted himself out. The fact its happened before and he's overcome it gives us some hope at least. The only problem is this time hes collecting 200 grand a week and sometimes its difficult to go for a run at 6 a.m when you sleep in silk.

From the top of my head, before I look into it, Pochettino criticised Sissoko and Dele and Adebayor
Sherwood criticised Paulinho and just about the entire team
But of course, it's when Mourinho does it that it becomes a controversy, because he isn't a big cuddly bear with lousy English pronunciation. No, HE is mean.
hell, Harry said his missus could've done a better job than Bent.

I’d be REALLY interested to hear how he’d defend that performance.

That MNF analysis exactly what I have been saying all day yesterday here. Moment GLC came on, he ran into space & changed the dynamic of the game. Nothing to do with back3 or back4.

Anyway...To see that MNF analysis in more detail is just a slap in the face for fans & manager. I can clearly understand why Jose did what he did outing him in public. If a player does that off the ball, there is no way we are going to get into his head and improve him. Either he is shamed into running or he doesnt respond again.

If he doesnt show signs of improvement by May, I am not against him being sold in summer and reinvest elsewhere - There is no way we can afford a player like in CM. What he brings on the ball, is more than nullified by what he doesnt do off the ball

For all the jokes we make on Ozil being lazy, Tanguy is epitome of laziness.

It's the frustration that when he is on the ball he is the most skilful. All he needs is Sissoko's work ethic

I REALLY hope Sissoko pulls him to one side, gives him a talking to and lets him know exactly what is expected for him to succeed, also telling him just how much support he’ll get from us fans if and when he puts the effort in.

Then Harry needs to take him out back and give him a slap!

Not something that’s easy to coax out of a player. Sure you can make a player more defensively aware ( Jose with Joe Cole at Chelsea for example) and a player can also learn to adapt to the pace of the PL and less time on the ball etc.

However, N’Dombele simply looks lazy.

If he doesnt measure up, I would simply move him up the field close to striker. He can amble around and do the damage when he gets the ball. Atleast then CM - engine room wont stink of laziness. Its going to be difficult for him - how do you teach work ethic ?

He hasn’t criticised Jose though??
I didny watch it anf I made a bit of an assumption based on the other posts, so I guess I'm wrong. Silly of me to criticise without watching.

Carragher still deserves it though.

For a footballer, let alone a premiership midfielder, to not register one sprint in 45 minutes of football is absolutely shocking.
The lad should be ashamed of himself and his team mates need to start calling him out on it. I would be royally pissed off, if I was working my bollocks off, only to look up and see him strolling around, hiding behind players and not really paying attention to what's going on.
Embarrassing and I'm having serious doubts about him now, which is so frustrating as he's such a talent.

I haven’t seen such a coward play for us since Paulinho, he used to do this every game and we know how that went.

But then you're allowing him to get away with it and accommodating him. It would be damaging in the long term as as soon as you move in back into midfield he'll just slack off so that you are forced to move up the pitch again.

He has to be worked hard and had to have it driven in to him that he has to work harder off the ball. Everyone will be better off.

Yeah, I understand he was shocking off the ball. But I would rather have it that way round than being shocking on the ball. Hopefully he sorts his shit out because he's so so talented, would be a real shame.

Oh, ok. It was mentioned in your Spanish speaking stream. So sorry, what was I thinking.
On that note, it was mentioned in my Italian and my Norwegian speaking stream that Mourinho has divided Spurs fans so far and some, especially those who feel a strong loyalty to the past manager, are looking high and low for ways to dish out criticism rather than just getting behind the team and managers.

That's not what I'm saying. You argued that fans invented the 5CBs phrase, and I gave you an example of non fans saying the same thing.
