I think he'll be here next season for a number of reasons;
1) He'd be a big risk for any potential buyer after the season he's just had.
2) His wages are top tier and nobody will want to pay him that much without some evidence he's worth it. We won't be subsidising his wages either.
3) We'd have to take a proper hit on his value, especially witht he effects of Covid.
4) Ndombele needs to repair some of the damage to his reputation to get any sort of attractive move.
5)) There's been a load of conflicting ITK so half of it must be bullshit. People seem to always take the most recent bit of ITK as gospel no matter where it comes from.

I don't think Levy will bail out on this and will be telling Mourinho he's paid 15m per year to deal with this kind of shit.

I largely agree with this, aside from the last sentence. I think both Levy and Mourinho know that if they can shift him on now at a good price, they will be able to invest in areas we need. However, I don’t think we will get anyone offering what we want/need for him.

Come October, Tanguy will have the choice of knuckling down, or seeing himself frozen out and his chances of a move growing smaller and smaller. Hopefully he comes to his senses and works hard enough to at least help out or maybe even break into the team.

It’s a clusterfuck of a situation, and it doesn’t look like going away any time soon.

It's a real shame about TN. He clearly has enough talent to take him right to the very top. At the end of the day, its the application that makes the player generally. Even Cristiano with all his natural talent works his absolute socks off every single day to ensure that he is the best. If you do not have the right mindset you will never be a great player. Unfortunately for us, TN seems that way & will end up being just a good player for a french side.

That's pretty much what I was saying (or trying to). We'd most likely sell him at a top price, but the chances of being offered a top price for him now are zero. I think Ndombele will still be here and Levy will expect Mourinho to try to salvage something from the situation - it's why he's paid 15m. I don't think he'll be able to kick our record signing to the kerb like he did with Pogba.

I think you're wrong... this season coming is so important like the ones before them, but this time its more serious no CL, no fans, bad mix. Levy will want Mou to just get on with it with no impediments, and no player is bigger than the club

I have to laugh at the overreaction and wanting rid of him, given his talent. He has already sorted himself out once, when he was let go at 17, but dusted himself off and knuckled down. Why can’t he do that again?

Just laughing at the start of the below thread about Dembele, with posts about wanting him sold, is overrated, lacks passion and some would rather sell over Paulinho. Perspective people

100%. My gut feeling is everyone will act like yesterday never happened a few weeks from now.

Just like the media, ITK is not gospel. It would do some well to take a deep breath before wildly speculating and losing control over secondhand information.

I ignore most of the stories and bullshit in the media about things we can't be sure are true regarding TN..
What worries me though is the fact that JM hardly plays him, not last season, not now, and he hardly mentions him, he doesn't even update us properly on anything about him, you would have thought he would do to get his confidence up...
That leads me to believe something is up between them.
Hope I'm wrong and he has a brilliant season with us.. Don't hold your breath though.

He'll have to play when we have 40 games a week in September.

Exactly. You don't have to listen to anyone - the media, ITK, even Mourinho.

The simple fact is he doesn't trust him because he barely plays him, or even involves him.

It's not rocket science, actions always speak louder than words.

So when we see him involved, at least it's a start, but he's going to have to convince JM if this is going to work out.

Praying it does, no doubt he's massively talented.

I absolutely detest “attitude ITK”, in so many cases it’s a bunch of wank as was mentioned above with Alderweireld and numerous other cases while they continued to perform well on the pitch.

With Ndombele the concern isn’t ITK but what we’ve seen on the pitch. He’s just clearly very out of shape, there really isn’t any excuse for that as a professional.

I remain blind to any evidence or common sense and believe he'll have a huge season for us. After scoring the winner in the EL final he'll tear open his shirt to reveal a cockerel tattoo

I don’t think anyone aside from that weird Churchill guy would really care too much about TN’s personal life or “commitment” if he was able to actually finish a match. Who gives a **** if he really loves the club, we’d all be happy with someone who can stay in shape and put in professional performances.
Modric didn’t love it here, and in fact almost left for Chelsea but never once did I doubt his footballing ability or fitness even after the Chelsea rumors.

The motivation would have to be there. He's done it before to stop himself losing a career in football - he's now wealthy with a good contract, so he could easily do a Bentley and see out his contract before retiring.
Just a completely different challenge altogether.

Before it would be "would you rather get fit or work in the supermarket?"
Now it's more of "would you rather get fit or earn millions not getting fit, then retire and do nothing and not need to work?"

IF it's a lethargy thing, the challenge doesn't really have the same criteria and risk.

One small reason for optimism -- Mou certainly clashes with and exiles players with some frequency, and he's definitely let a number of them go that he never should have, but he also has a long history of using some of those players at key moments on a path to a trophy. I wouldn't be at all shocked if this saga continued throughout the season and N'Dombele doesn't make a number of matchday squads, only to magically reappear at key moments as an impact sub.

I also wouldn't be shocked if we end up loaning him out just for the wage relief at some point during this contract a la MUFC and Sanchez. A loan might be good for him and resuscitate his value, like Bakayoko.

For me we need to focus on right back and center forward. By all means if we can get a suitable offer for Ndombele we can let him go. However we can't let the situation dictate our other deals. Worst case scenario being we get our 3 key positions filled (rb, dm, cf) and keep Ndombele with hopes he knuckles down. Play him as a 10 in front of Lo Celso and Hojbjerg competing with Alli and Lamela. Best case scenario we sell him and use the money for another creative 10 (like Coutinho) or push Lo Celso forward into that role and get another CM (like Sabitzer).
