Could this be one of the things that is pissing Poch off? JJ did say (albeit a while ago) that if Toby stays Poch will be off and vice-versa, or words to that effect

If levy knew this then I just cannot see him siding with Toby over poch with this.

He's just got the three players poch wanted and now he's gonna royally piss him off by getting Toby signed up? Makes no sense.

This is not information I expected to see come out! I was certain Toby was off, if this is true and he signs a new deal, then superb news

Would be kind of ironic if after all the speculation, apparent fallings out, repeated links to other clubs and £25 million buyout clause, Toby is the one that signs a new deal and Vertonghen leaves.

Would make me cry as well if that happened.

You'd think if that was the case though that he'd be dropping Toby rather than Verts, all very odd

I reckon Poch and Toby have reconciled their differences. They don't visibly appear to have any issues with each other when out on the pitch.

Regardless, it's a financial move. Renew the contract and he's worth more.

To be honest Toby has been so professional throughout all this on the football side of things - you could see the work he put in on his holidays for example - it wouldn't totally shock me if bridges were mended.

That said as we've seen Sanchez seems to play a lot better with Jan than Toby so this would be a pretty spursy outcome.

I don't think it'd hurt to keep toby and Jan for 1-2 more seasons if they are willing to stay. Keeps the depth good and we can scout for long time replacements. Foyth looks like he'll be given plenty of minutes at RB so having the Belgians and Sanchez is fine by me.

Sounds so mysterious wonder if anyone was making out with ones another wife or anything.
As I am working in the footy business in Germany, incidents like this are not really uncommon lol.

My understanding is that we made a contract offer which was verbally agreed which Poch went to bat for in terms of going above the pay restraints at spurs, then Alders team came back to the table saying they wanted more and his wife then made a derogatory comment towards Spurs during talks in terms of us being small fry or cheap.

If Toby has been banging his Mrs, you'd imagine MP wouldn't be too happy about that.
But it isn't illegal and there is unlikely to be anything in Toby's contract about it.
If MP feels he can't work with guy any more as it is driving him mad, then is it right that he demands the player leave? For the harmony of the group maybe one has to leave, but if they both want to stay...
Are we saying as MP is the boss, he gets to chose? What if next time, his kippers are found in some else's grill?

Oh dear. I missed this and possibly explains everything, especially if other players have fallen out with him.

Surely if Toby is going to sign then Poch is off then.
This cannot be true. Why are we seeing Toby playing? I would have expected Poch to bench Toby if he is supposed to get moved on. Does'nt make sense. So much speculation about various players which at the end of the day is hurting the team.

Really makes you wonder what's going on.

If Poch has a falling out with both Toby and Jan and told the club he wants then out then I can't imagine Levy been all that happy about it.

Why?

Well firstly they are important assets and we would be making sales the club don't necessarily want to make. We'd then have to go into the market and replace them of course.

Therefore, it all seems a little unnecessary, as you are likely to be replacing to class players with inferior ones.

As mentioned here, selling Walker and signing Aurier and promoting Trippier left us weaker, 2 years on and we still don't have the answers here.

So perhaps Poch needs to ease up in some respects, especially as Toby has been ultra professional on the pitch and doesn't come across as a bad guy. Also, it's hardly a Neymar or Beckham situation where the players ego is overshadowing the club.

Of course, if Toby has said something really disrespectful or really offended Poch with his actions, I don't expect Poch to let stuff slide. But I do wonder if other players have seen a bad side of Poch and can't get behind him like they used to.

I hope that's not the case but something is definitely amiss here. Really unfortunate situations.
