No one comes from loan unless it's a young player going for development

Yeah true but it would be stupid to sell a player who knows our system somewhat, won't have to adapt again as much, is still young and will be high on confidence (assuming he has a good year) just because that's what we always do

It's not like there have been any attitude issues or burnt bridges with poch

Seems a shame we couldnt keep him for cup games - thought he would come good this year. However reading some Poch comments i think his commitment was in question.

Good luck Vinny.

Liked him and wanted it to work out but as time went on it became increasingly clear he's a lovely lad but not up to the standard we need. Some goals in Turkey and we'll sell him next summer.

Does anyone know if we can recall him, should we get crippled with injuries? Is it a loan with option to buy, no option, or obliged to buy?

I got a lot of negative ratings for saying he wasn't of the required standard. I don't see anyone lamenting his departure though....

I will miss him dearly. I am truly in a state of lament :(

I think there's a player in there, but doesn't seem like he is adapting to the Poch way of life, nor the PL.

Man I seem to be in the minority of people really not overly bothered by his departure. I liked him and I am sure he will bang them in in Instanbul but when I watched him vs PSG in Orlando it was painful. I've always felt the "scores one and then he'll start a run" is always a romatic myth for players we like but you can see when a player just isn't putting it together.

Good luck to him, he seems a nice guy and there is potential in there, but I think a move to a new team and fresh start is what he needs.

I'm sad for his departure, I believe it is way premature and he should have gotten all of this season with a fair shot at making it. But just like I said about Wimmer, it matters not if the player is "good" or "poor". Without the full faith of the manager, without being played by the manager, the player must move on.

I agree GlacierSpur. Was at the PSG game in Orlando early in preseason. They had to go out and do full length sprints after playing 45 minutes (and it wasn't that hot). He was lagging behind the rest of the guys just at average pace running and then he was noticeably out of breath and doubling over after each sprint. His running style was awkward but it was clear he just wasn't in the same physical condition as the other guys.

Disappointing because I still think he has something there that could make a good striker in the Premier League.

Llorente's not exactly Linford Christie...

It's only true for players that squander good chances every game. They're still getting in good positions (which is the hard part), and chances are things will even themselves out and they'll go on a scoring run. Janssen got into decent positions in his first games, but then just stopped making chances for himself.

Llorente isn't blessed with pace but his brain is quick.

Ultimately I think Janssen would've adapted better with more playing time but I also understand why Pochettino was reluctant to take that risk. I hope he does well on loan but he clearly hasn't convinced our manager that he's worth persisting with.

Also, if there is any chance of his Spurs future being reassessed next summer there are far worse people for him to spend the season learning from than van oersie
