Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is not concerned about his shortage of right-backs ahead of Sunday’s north London derby at Arsenal.

Thing is, he's never going to want to admit to any concerns in public as all that will do is give more confidence to the opposition.

But any team we play will very quickly spot our weakness on that side, just as Arsenal did this afternoon.

Every team will have analysed strengths and weaknesses of all our players and formations to the nth degree. They have dedicated staff to do this.
What Poch says in this respect makes no difference whatsoever to our opposition.
Maybe he is just giving a bit of confidence to whoever plays that position.

Good point and at least he's not trying to get in there early with excuses about injuries.

He tried Sanchez at right-back because it would have been stupid to allow Alderwerield to be exposed to the pace of any one of their forwards down the wing. Sanchez didn't look comfortable but it was only ever going to be a short term measure, he serves his purpose and filled in. Hopefully, either KWP or Aurier will be recovered for the next game with the international break.

What’s going on with Aurier that Sanchez started at RB ahead of him?

Really thought he’d play 3 at the back with Sissoko in the RB role.

I really like Sanchez, but as a CB not RB. He had a torrid time and was hopelessly exposed in that position against that attack. I have zero problem with him and a massive problem with having Aurier on the bench, yet not bringing him on for the 2nd half, or the last 30 mins (which he must have been fit enough for otherwise he shouldn't have been on the bench).

In all honesty you could have subbed Sanchez within 15 mins as it was clear he couldn't cope with that position but obviously that would have been tough on him and i can fully understand why he wasn't (also given Aurier fitness levels). But to not switch him for Aurier at any stage, imo, cost us the game - not in terms of us defending any better (although that would have been an obvious added bonus) but because having round pegs in round holes would have helped the whole team regain a better grip of the game and attack better, rather than worry about covering for the struggling player.

But all said and done, i'm just really pleased that the Spurs i know and love seem to be back....or almost back.

I agreed with everything you wrote, up to this last sentence, IMO so far this season we have looked a shadow of our best selves of the last two seasons.

Bit premature if basing this on the Arsenal game. Even West Ham can motivate themselves to play well in a derby, let's see how we do against Palace first.

We will be 3rd at worst this season. Happy to be mocked in May if we aren't.

I hope we smash Palace, but I can't see it being an easy game.
