After reaching the Champions League final in May, Tottenham have stuttered at the start of this season. But as he told Sky Sports' Laura Woods, Mauricio Pochettino is remaining calm under increasing pressure.

Nice words from him but until he stops making mistakes with team selection, formation and tactics then not much is going to change in the short term unfortunately.

Little glimpse at something better on Tuesday but likely as not it'll be a different team/different tactics today.

Perhaps he and the players could do with feeling a bit of pressure.

Any amateur could see our right side was the weak link. Aurier was just Aurier, and Erikson content with just strolling and jogging around. With the exception of Lloris, we had a complete team with no injury, but Poch sat with folded arms and did nothing until 3 minutes from end. For all intent and purposes, we were playing with 10 men.

TBVH, if he's feeling calm, it's either he's not up to the level that is expected of him to feel nervous/excited or he simply doesn't care. You cannot not feel those tinge of stress in a competitive environment. It's those adrenaline that keeps real fighters in whatever arena of things to keep fighting. Ghandi would feel stress and nervous in his revolutionary cause. He would not hide that.

Poch is wonderful as a coach and I think many who have encountered him will love him. But admist such competitive and high-stake league of football, either he reveals his true self or he hides it better. If not it just irks the shit out some of us with contradictions week in week out. It's detestful.

Against the odds and results, his reactions just told me two things - he is incompetent (not the level who we think he is), and he is very pretentious.

What rot. Now he's supposed to behave like Ghandi and as for pretentious, when you use words like detestful and incompetent, then the irony levels have just been ramped up several notches.

People are disappointed and rightly so but the over the top and far too often vitriolic nature of it is really getting more and more ridiculous.

Gotcha! Wonderful you saw through me. That's how Poch has been doing that all the time - irony and contradiction!

I wouldn't know, what team would Gandhi have picked :cautious:

Look, all I'm saying is being disappointed is understandable, criticism is understandable, but the over the top and often spiteful nature of it isn't. He's not a moron, a prick or a **** and even though we might not understand or like some of his decisions he's not suddenly incompetent. He's the same manager than took us to multiple CL qualifications and a final and that deserves some respect, even though for some it'd be given massively begrudgingly. People can call out what they see as his mistakes without resorting to that, it's not that long ago SC was delighting in the behaviour of those Arsenal idiots ranting against Wenger on youtube and now look at us.

The fickleness, lack of appreciation and lack of context for where Poch has taken us to compared to where we were is embarrassing and shameful.
Yes he makes mistakes but those armchair tacticians who think that all the "right" answers are obvious are seriously deluded if they don't think Poch already sees what they see.

I don't think he does see what we see, otherwise he would have hauled Eriksen off at half time (or preferably not started him at all). We have 2 fantastic creative players in Ndombele and Lo Celso. We looked a load more threatening when Ndombele came on, and Lo Celso did more in 3 minutes than Eriksen did in 87.

Poch is showing some unbelievable naivety with his team selections. It took him until 68 mins to make a change, when it was obvious to everyone in the footballing world that things were not working. It’s like watching a car accident in slow motion sometimes.

Armchair tacticians ???? It doesn’t take Einstein to workout Eriksen should never have played, Liverpool’s midfield yesterday was imo average with no real attacking threat, yet Poch sticks 2 defensive midfielders in there & plays Eriksen as a supporting wing back to Aurier, Eriksen can’t defend for his life, runs about a bit but I’ve never genuinely seen him win a tackle or put himself about, why not play N’Dombele alongside winks to take control of midfield as we couldn’t get hold of the ball & play Sissoko where Eriksen played to support Aurier & double up on Robertson, similar to what they both did away against Madrid in the champions league the season before last?

Poch continues to change the team week in and week out, & I wouldn’t mind if we are winning games but let’s face it we are shit at the minute & for me he’s showing how tactically inept he’s becoming, I don’t pay £1000 a year for my season ticket to watch what I’m currently watching, & for me the buck stops with the manager, we’ve lost our identity of 2/3 years ago & I’m not sure under Poch that will come back, everything he originally possessed in high press & speed has gone, aside from Kane & Son we’d be in the bottom 3 for sure, buts it’s ok mate Poch has this, absolutely clueless

If anything I'd rather he came over in public as being more of a one. It might scare off the journalists from asking him the same questions every week.

Regardless of past 'successes' (without having actually won anything with the most gifted Spurs squad of the last 30 years), the past 10 months have been really damaging to Pochettino's reputation at this club.

The miraclous 2nd half in Amsterdam painted over alot of cracks - prior to that we had been on a downward slide and it's only accelerated since the beginning of this season. Sure, there will be the odd win every now and then (thank you, Red Star Belgrade!) which will give hope that things are turning around and which Poch will cling to in order to demonstrate that he is still a 'top manager'. But the results and the performances tell a different story to those that really follow this club. He has been unable to reverse the flow of negativity - it's not just the results anymore, it's the behaviour of him and some of his players. And it doesn't appear that he is capable of finding a solution to the current situation.

I didn't get to yesterday's game, but watched it on Sky. Thought Kane's post match interview was interesting - he obviously disagreed with the tactics and the way we sat back and invited Liverpool to dominate the game (it was like something you'd expect from Brighton or Norwich).

It's increasingly obvious that this is the end of an era. Can't see Poch turning it around - the issue is, does Levy allow this season to be a write-off, miss Champions League qualification (and the impact that will have on commercial deals, including stadium naming rights, etc.) and replace him next summer, or does he pull the trigger sooner than that?

And if we miss the top 4 this season, how many more players will want away, and what quality of new signing will we be able to attract? This is a slippery slope, once it starts to go against you, you are in trouble.

Can we sticky this at the top of all the rant threads right now?
