Personally, as much as I hate the Europa League as a competition, we need to try and win something. And it's not going to be the league, we're out of the league cup, so that would leave the EL and the FA Cup.

Having said that, Poch will probably play a strong team up until the semis and then rest a lot of players for a league game to try and qualify for the CL o_O

Last night I just thought we don't want Europa League but now have realised that it will be just knockout. With that in mind I think we should now go for it. But to do that Poch will need to change his thinking, find some answers to what we are poor in Europe. If he does that then we might be read.y for the CL next season. So stay in, try to win it and set some base for European football in the future

I would normally say lets go for the EL, as all the teams going for top four places wuold have European football to contend with. But this is a strange year, with 2 of the potential top 4, Chelsea and the Bin Dippers, have no European Football to contend with, so we need to be fighting on an even keel with these two.

Don't we draw one of the group runners-up in the first KO stage? If so i'd expect us to win over two legs and go out in the next round. Meh.

Might aswell go back to where we belong. the manager and the team need to learn how to handle Europe and the league.

What's the point going out and concentrating on finishing top 4 if we're just gonna mug off the CL group stage again. I've not seen the likes of it. resting players for the league, with the top clubs it was the other way round, they'd rest on the Saturday with an eye on the CL midweek match

Knowing us we'll get a draw against Maccabi Tel-Aviv and end up playing the away leg the Thursday before Liverpool away or something ridiculous.

Wouldn't mind europa myself but given we put out a very poor team against Dortmund last season, i think there is no point. For me a trophy is a trophy and i would love for us to win one this year.

We've pretty much never really taken the thing seriously have we? If we were to do so it'd be bearable

We have to go for the EL. We haven't won anything in a long time so we don't have the right to think certain trophies are beneath us but also the likes of Dele, Dier, etc need more experience playing at the European level. Plus, there are some good teams in the EL this season. Who wouldn't want to see us play Roma, Ajax, Schalke, etc? Winning the EL doesn't seem to have harmed Sevilla so perhaps we should learn from them.

I would like the option: It is not a rubbish competition but we are currently not good enough to win it so better to concentrate on the league

We need to go back and see if we can compete with the second and third tier sides. Definitely couldn't handle the CL.

Shit competition and we don't take it seriously so what's the point?

I don't think it's a shit competition as such, but you're right that there's no point us being in it if we don't take it seriously.

So I'd rather us not be in it to be honest.

Let some of the squad players earn their wages for a change. Let some of the senior players know that they're not as senior as they think they are.

Clear from Poch's comments he doesn't think we have the strength to fight on several fronts and as mentioned before Chelsea and Liverpool have no European football.

Quite frankly UEFA have degraded the competition, it used to be a straight knockout cup called the UEFA Cup and mean something now it the Europa league with all the shit that brings, I also think it's stupid that if you come third in one competition you fall into another.

I rather we went out and gave the league and the FA cup a really good go, we should at least have the depth for that. I actually don't even enjoy the EL games, other than blooding some young players I find the games generally boring.

Heart says in - any chance for silverware should be pursued with our best options possible.

Head says out - We haven't shown the desire or quality in the CL - we all know the Europa is a tough competition too. It will strain and fatigue the squad we have as well as clogging up the fixture list.

The problem with the Europa League is the seemingly massive disconnect between the way the club and the supporters see the competition.

I'd love to win the trophy - all of us would - but after years of playing youth and fringe players in the competition, perhaps summed up best by our team selection away at Dortmund last year, it's clear we don't care about it enough.

So if the manager and players don't give a shit, why should I?
