We both deserve about 6-8th in past years imo. There's only been 3 teams in it really this year. Us and Villa have just been too inconsistent and we've been lucky that United and Chelsea are still absolutely wank and that Newcastle and Brighton flattered to deceive on their form last year. Whoever finishes 4th it won't have been one of the vintage CL placings.
Villa need 3 points in 3 games to be over the 5 year average in terms of points needed for 4th spot.

Saying we deserve to be about 6th-8th place is to say we are no better than last season when we finished 8th and were two points off 6th.

Every season you have underperformers and teams who perform better than expected.

About the Sheffield UTD non pen.

I know the Newcastle player got a toe on the ball but after that he's the wrong side of a player who is going to get to the ball and run at goal.

It seems like a rather shit interpretation of the rules. The ball was still in play and there was still contact with the player.

To be honest I'm just basing it on what I've seen, naturally especially from us, having watched every single game. Outside of the early season form we've felt like about 6-8th place team for the rest of it due to the inability to finish teams we should be beating and the inconsistent quality. The repetitive quality outside of the top 3 this year hasn't been brilliant for me in terms of the football I've watched. It's not felt at any point after half way that we look like a team that should be playing in the Champions League, and I'd think many would agree. It's been a weird year.

We've obviously been better than last year, and the football has been better, but we've not been value for a CL place on the eye-test for me, compared to most years, including our own years of having qualified.

Can we please fuck VAR off.

anyone who was in support of the idea should issue formal apologies to all football fans.
Just have a pitch side monitor and have a sodding producer have the tapes and angles of a decision for him to look at if he needs to check something and they desperately want muh technology to play a part. He looks and he decides. No endless conferences, no different opinions. All these fecking VAR officials have guaranteed an already jarring change is made miserable and as imperfect in different ways to what came before.

Palace are doing well now, very difficult last game for Villa.

Think theyll take 4 more points.
We'd need 12 from our last 6 then?

It might be tighter than I suspect but then again, I thought we'd beat Wolves at home and never saw the Fulham performance coming. That's the trouble with the team, we're still inconsistent as you'd expect to a degree in Ange's first season.

3 pts tomorrow and I might have the faintest crumb of hope that 4th isn't beyond us.

5th is about what we deserve. As usual brainfarts against the Wolves and Fulhams of this world has left us all with a what could have been feeling.
Genuinely would be happy with 5th and Europa. Villa deserve 4th but it could be a poison chalice for them.

Nope, sorry mate - without VAR we'd have lost to City in the CL quarter final and would've spent the years since spitting hatred at an offside goal being given against us.

VAR has been a mess but one thing it's led to from a Spurs perspective is we are definitely getting less frequently fucked over by the big clubs and officials bias.

So many goals, particularly against the likes of Chelsea, United and City - the most obviously cheaty clubs - year after year after year of us being screwed out of results. Goals given against us which never got near to crossing the line. Massively obvious offsides ignored. Clear fouls in the build up to goals disregarded. A never ending litany of anti-Spurs bullshit which has now, mostly, ended.

We've had our fair share of bullshit since bringing in VAR but so has every club, and it's specifically prevented us being dumped on on several occasions. The minute we get rid of it, is the minute we start spamming post-match forums with "It has to be outright corruption, there is no other possibility" etc as we had seen for so many years in the past.

EDIT: Actually I'd be happy with some kind of checking mechanism - e.g. @Misfit 's suggestion. There has to be some kind of check and balance or we just go back to Fergie Time, John Terry's goal that stopped 5 yards out, Lampard's bullshit, Sterling running away in victory, and Mendes from the halfway line.

The truth is we probably won’t need to “throw the game” against City. We are in poor form, and will likely get shredded in a similar way to Brighton did last night.

As much as I’ve enjoyed this season and think we are on the right track, I don’t expect us to get any points against City, Liverpool, Arsenal or Chelsea.

Can see us dropping points against Burnley or Sheffield United too tbh.

Please, give this man a motivational coach job at Arsenal!

Paqueta is just a thug. Been at it for a few games now. Definite booking at least for tackle on MacAllister .
But again. VAR. do not question Anthony Taylor. They don’t question Oliver either. Definite hierarchy with the refs.
We have Oliver tomorrow. VAR is Jared Gillet , from AUSTRALIA.
We never get anything from Oliver.
