Yes UEFA want to finish the seasons.
But from there you have just gone to opinion, and against what UEFA have explicitly said for entry into their competition.

You Conveniently forgot that they said they will only accept entries based on sporting merit from this season, what is deemed sporting merit is open to interpretation by the relevant leagues, but is to be based on this season to date, and that UEFA hvae the right to refuse entry to any club where the teams selected is not deemed to be fairly selected based on that sporting merit .

Yes they have right to refuse, however I do not belive they will, depending on who is selected and reasons why.

When Arteta got sick the numbers were around 150 cases a day 20 deaths. If they go back full training mid day we will be around 1-3k cases a day 100-300 deaths. A player or staff member will get sick it’s just inevitable.

When Arteta got it there were no restrictions in place and no safety measures in place. So comparing numbers this way is only accurate if everything returns to the way it was, which nobody is suggesting it will.

Havent the dutch awarded european places on this seasons table. We should do the same.

Yes but it's much simpler for them. I posted on this already but if you look at the end of last season for them and the current standings there's basically no difference in European places other than PSV dropping from CL to EL and AZ going the other way. However PSV can't complain much given the bad season they are having. So ultimately it is a much easier decision to make and the only club who could have any complaint from it would have been PSV - so negotiating with one cub is much easier than with several clubs.

Personally more I have thought about it im not to fussed about us missing out on champions league and certainly the Europa League next season. Next season will definitely be the season to miss out if you are going to miss out on being in it. It will be a soulless experience travelling away in Europe playing in empty stadiums which will certainly be the case for the group stage of the competitions and maybe the majority if not all the knock out rounds as can't see fans being present till vaccine is available.

To cover lost games on tv release new packages allowing all games to be broadcast live.

The financial loss to the club will be huge though if we miss out on EL/CL. This could have an impact on our team and squad quality for years to come.

Here's my (cabin fever induced dream) take

There's a convoluted method to determine European places. We miss out entirely. Kane promises to stay one more year. We have a chance to fully bed in new signings, and with injured players returning we have a fully fit squad

Faced with just one game a week, and the domestic cups, our players are fully rested through the year and fully tactically drilled under Jose's system on a week by week basis

We win our first league and cup double in 60 years (it is a year ending in "1" after all), Kane signs another 6 year extension with a gentleman's agreement with Levy that he can leave if either Barca or RM come in with a 300M bid

Now, where's the other bottle of gin?

With Eredivisie and Ligue 1 cancelled it kind of lifts a bit of pressure on the Premier League to resume. It really throws a lot into the air especially with European football. I mean what happens to any team in a league that is cancelled now but still in Europe? I can only see other European seasons being cancelled and brought in line with one another. If France and Holland are cancelling all sports events until September then how can England, Italy or Spain resume given the death toll?

I'm not sure how everyone else feels about the season. I kind of feel so deflated from the season so far I'm not sure how I can really get up for it again. Knowing 5th is probably the best we could achieve now. I know we'll have Kane, Son and Sissoko back which will make a big difference but I'm still not that optimistic. I'm a lot more interested in next season after a transfer window that we really need. So I'm kind of hoping it gets cancelled and the window opens as scheduled so we can look towards a new start.

Rosie, Speak with Donna if it happens. You have more than enough credit with club, pictures at pre-season friendlies from Asia to America on website etc. I have seen you everywhere on all my Euro travels from Asteras to Maribor to Tromso. Maybe there is something they could do to get you on accredited list.

The thing is there a few hundred of us that go to every competitive game with many having not missed a game for 20 or 30 years (throw in the friendlies as well and there's only about 10-20 of us).

It makes me so angry that it's all because the top division has sold its soul to television.

Whilst true, it's not exclusive to us. Every team is gonna be impacted by the financial implications of all this in general, let alone the big teams going for Europe.

At least for us it's just the worry of 'Oh no, our team might be slightly average for years to come' rather than 'Oh no, our team is going to go bust'

Let’s see what happens at the PL meeting on Friday. If they kick the can down the road again then it’s over. It’s pretty much getting to the point of no return.

I wouldn’t follow what other leagues have done as a guide to what we will do either. The government seem to want it back and the PL are too arrogant to cancel it themselves.

Saying that, nothing will he decided unless they’ve negotiated an agreement with the tv companies.

If the PL think they can finish the season without players or members of staff involved with the games being infected then they are absolutely delusional. The chances of that are slim to none. Norway started opening schools and kindergartens last week and it only took a few days before some had to be shut down due to someone there testing positive.

Is it true that UEFA are saying if the season is cancelled that the current league positions will decide European cup places? How is that even fair when we have several teams ahead of us in the table that we have yet to play against at home but have played away?

This idea of binning this season is predicated on being able to play next season uninterrupted which is balls

Football is in its own bubble right now, especially the Premier League , its got it's head so far up its own arse it cannot see what else is going on around it.

Agree with the suggestions the CL & Europa should be suspended next season, would be absolutely amazed if it happens though. Formula 1 have set a bad example on that front I'm afraid, I know they don't have to come into contact with each other in terms of competing in their sport but the size of the F1 operation and the amount of gear and staff they have to drag around Europe is absolutely huge.

I haven't missed a first team Spurs game played in a stadium anywhere in the world for 15 years so of course I have a problem with it personally.

From a bigger picture there would be a disadvantage to teams who are meant to have home games left against bigger teams - no home advantage could be the difference between getting relegated and not for some.

Then there is the fact that football like all sports is for spectators in the ground with TV showing it for those who can't attend. People have been attending football in this country for 150 years including during two world wars. To play behind closed doors purely for greed means that TV ends up being more important than those in attendance and once that happens there's no going back in my view.

If it were to go on for months with no spectators then furlough all the staff, cut wages, etc.

Personally I don't want to see any sport without fans. If Spurs play behind closed doors I won't watch it and I may never come back. Of course it's not all about me, in the grand scheme of things no one is going to care what I think or do but that's my view.

Sadly it’s all about money and the fans are not a big consideration for PL teams. The game is all about TV as that is where the big bucks are.

To me playing behind closed doors makes a mockery of the game. Watching on TV is a poor substitute but when it is not in real time is pointless

Fuck football...fuck premier league..and even fuck Spurs. It's not that important. I'm really not missing it. I'm missing my family and friends, who are more important than I realised.
