Some info to follow up what I previously heard. Agreed in principle to restart mid June. With next season starting late August, early September. All but 2 clubs agreed to the restart, but I'm not willing to state the two in public, will pass onto A&C if necessary.

People would also possibly be surprised by the pulling power BEIN Sports have.......CRAZY but money talks.

All is subject to government input and approval so we shall see and I know it's nothing groundbreaking but passing on in good faith.

Cheers. I guess Friday next week is the big make or break date. If there’s no changes to lockdown I’m not sure there plans will go ahead at the timetable they’re suggesting.

Re BEIN, I don’t know how much they pay but I guess they have a say because of it. Ever since sky made us play 3 MNFs in a row and it affected our title chances I’ve not been happy with TVs influence on the game. Before then I found it negligible but since then it really has grown and grown.

Wonder how Pep feels being forced into this circus having lost his mother to Covid 19. Bet he will have a few choice words.

When financial needs are more important than sporting integrity, the game is lost.
Either the season is finished in the same way it started or it is not finished at all imo.

What is your alternative? Just dont bring the game back until fans can watch? There literally wont be anything left to come back to if that was the case. They have to proceed with behind closed doors as its the fastest option to get their businesses back up and running, if they dont entire leagues worth of clubs will cease to exist, nothing.

All this talk of greedy leagues yet this is the most selfish opinion of the lot, you are literally saying "i would rather thousands of people lost their jobs and clubs hundreds of years old disappeared because i don't like the idea of teams playing in a sub-optimal atmosphere". Or worse "If i cant go to games there should be no games until i can go, i always go to games" which ive seen in this thread.

It's not ideal but it's going to be the only way to keep things alive. And it's in Sky/BT/BBC's interest to make it work, I'm sure they'll find a way.

Our owner is worth £4,000,000,0000 so yes I don't want any Spurs games played without supporters in the ground as I haven't missed a game in person for 15 years and Spurs can afford not to play until fans are allowed back, as can the rest of the PL.

It's the lower leagues I feel sorry for as they are ones who could go bust.

Sorry Rosie I respect your following of the team massively but this simply isn't true, even PL clubs would have a problem surviving that long as it could potentially be next year until we're allowed in stadiums again.

Lol, there is nothing easy about that. The main difficulty will be the amount of clubs that no longer exist by the time it's safe to play in front of crowds.

Fans can be allowed in now with social distancing. Reduced crowds 2 seats apart. They did this recently with boxing in Nicaragua.

Logistical nightmare. You can keep two seats between, but what about seats in front and behind? What about getting in and out of stadiums? Public transport on match day?

I can’t really grasp the financial perspective because I don’t know enough about it, clubs’ cash flows etc but I just can’t see it working. One reported case while the season is on, and it’s shut down again.

They have to cut their losses, end this season now. That gives them months until the next season to figure out how to implement new measures to ensure the sport can continue in some form or another.

No one knows that, it's far too early to state.

I haven't got a shadow of a doubt that matches will be played behind closed doors because at the end of the day money is more important than health and they don't care what the fans think. However that's not going to stop me being angry and bitter about it and I know that for me and many others it might be the last straw.

I actually hope that few people watch it on TV with no fans when they realise it's not the same as that may teach the authorities a thing or two.

Not to mention the amount of people that would still be touching entry gates, scanners, food and drinks stalls, toilets. Not going to happen.

I have to go to work every day on a busy Tube. Entry gates and scanners don't have to be touched at all in our ground. Keep food and drink stalls shut. Stewards by the toilets.

Many fans won't want to come due to their own health. For the rest there are multiple options...random ballots, loyalty points, priority to corporates, combination thereof, etc.

You cannot compare, sorry. There were only 800 people there in an 8,000 seater venue. You're also talking about a country in denial saying they only had 13 cases and 3 deaths.

Even if 10% of our capacity were allowed in that's only 6,000 people, the benefit and logistic do not out weight the risk and having that few fans in the stadium will not earn the club any significant match day income.

The thing with the lower league clubs is their cost base will reduce dramatically on 1st July. There are approximately 1000 expiring contracts so that is an average of 20 per club

I had same issue. I know a player, been speaking almost every day since the virus closed football. told the board that players were going to force Levy to change his mind about furloughing staff, and they had refused to talk to him until they did. BSoDL jump on you, saying nonsense, claiming all sorts about having no sources, 2 days later, bang, he is forced to change his stance, and then all you get is well it was your source that was right, not you (how that is any different to other ITK I am still working out).
So I could tell the board about what the club suggested to the players, which players were OK with what board suggested initially, which players are dead against it, where negotiations stand, is there likely to be any agreement down the line, but I won't.
If the info you pass on is not the confirmation bias people want to hear, they jump on you, so advice, keep to yourself in future, and just smile to yourself when you see ridiculous things posted that you know are incorrect. (something I fail to do, I call out the idiotic postings)

They have a huge pull. French football has massively suffered after their decision financially. BEIN have refused to pay some money and ripped up their contracts. Very messy situation which the PL wants to avoid.

No one is saying it's the same; what people are saying is behind closed doors is the only option, for now

City almost definitely one of the two clubs that opposed the restart...

Surely Norwich would be one of the main ones pushing for null and void. It’s their only hope of survival basically.
