we’ve all just gone into lock down for minimum of three weeks.. yet it seems the narrative still being peddled by those in football is the league must finish... all The stories seem to be focusing on the premier league not Seen one mention the championship, league one, two etc.. not Going to be able resume the premier league behind closed doors then not allow the rest of the leagues to finish.

At this point, I don’t see any reason why the FA would allow the remainder of the season to be played. One thing is playing behind closed doors, but you have to remember that there are 22 players out there that will face each other. People are self-isolating and others are kept in quarantine because of this vile virus. Players and managers already reported to have contracted the virus. There’s a lockdown throughout almost all of Europe. People dying each day. It’s not right going through with this season just because some demands it.
Plus the subs and various support staff for both teams. You're probably looking at a minimum of 60 people per match who would be in close contact so all 60 would need to be tested prior to every game. For the PL alone that would be 600 tests each week and there's no way those tests should be going to sportsmen until we have an overflow of testing kits available.

And if any person in that 600 tests positive that would surely require that the team in question would need to isolate themselves for 2 weeks, rendering the schedule useless. I struggle to see how they could possibly work out the logistics for just the games, let alone worries about fan mingling etc.

It should just be voided and start new season in August (if possible).

Tough shit for some teams but these are extraordinary times and require extraordinary measures.

Football, or any sport, is irrelevant at the end of the day and any team's supporters bitching about promotion and titles should look at the bigger picture.

As said earlier it will come down to money and voiding this season although costly will be the least expensive option. However of this rumbles on to around January i could then see the season finished. However the issue with that is i dont see how football clubs survive. How does a club like spurs even with our modest wage structure survive a £500m-£600m deficit in income. I suppose the 300m profit over the last few seasons could keep us a float a little but think of the clubs with bigger wage bills or smaller turnover, how do man United with its 700m+ turnover survive and pay everyone. Clubs like barca and madrid who were in financial trouble could be done for. How will FFP work after this as surely an owner cant pump money in to cover the losses as then that really will screw the game. It will be interesting to see what happens at arsenal esp as Kroenke is balls deep in a stadium rebuild 2bn of which he pumped in.

This really could be the collapse of football as we know it. Hopefully Levy tight fisted approach can see us through to the other side and allow us to dominate a league with no one left in it.

I think this is done now. Give the scousers a virtual trophy and allow them a virtual open top street parade from the safety of their Robbie Fowler owned houses

You know some scousers have rustled up enough to get someone working on a VR open top bus experience.

And you'll have all the players at home with their headsets on holding aloft an imaginary trophy.

But the fans will only be able to afford the demo version and will end up watching in on a Virtual TV set within the game... :sneaky:

Fans will go round their mates, pubs, outside grounds. It will be worse. Behind closed doors will not happen
The pubs are all closed, and reportedly the plan is to try and play behind closed doors at neutral venues in the Midlands to avoid fans outside.

Isn't it for London club's only? Due to it being worse for covid-19 there? And if that's the case it's an unfair advantage to all other clubs still playing at home (even with no fans there)

saw something somewhere that UEFA are looking to relax FFP for 2 seasons to get clubs back on track, but that won't include City due to the ban

on our profits we have already spent 150m of those if they where that high, and that was just on fees not including wages

What a load of bollox though. It totally flies in the face of social distancing.

They need to just void the season.

Its entirely possible that not just this season but next season also will not happen.

Nothing , in any sport anywhere , will happen until the vaccine is widely available. Globally.

Well that's the current status, we just need to hope that we have a vaccine by then, I'd dread to think how long this could potentially go on for.

I know from LinkedIn that China are preparing to start training again.

However, with Fellaini returning to China with the virus, I can see problems popping up as players return to the country.

For example, Neymar jetted off to Brazil before the lockdown, how many players will be returning to their respected league's countries?

I can see situations occurring where the players are all back in training but then a player picks up the virus and the training centre goes on lock down.

Players will still come into contact with family, friends, catering staff, drivers, people on their flights, etc, etc, etc.

Dare I say it though (and I am not saying that what you are saying isn't valid - of course it is) but would Spurs fans be quite so cavalier about voiding the season if we were doing well and in a good position to win a trophy? I know it's hard to know how one would think if we were in a better position but I just feel like more people would be aggrieved if we stood to lose out rather than being in a position where the season is a write off.
