Football behind closed doors just doesn't feel like football to me. Imagine watching an important PL fixture being played in a training ground in Birmingham. It doesn't get much more bleak than that.

@sistoney67: Juventus’ players have agreed to the club stopping their salaries for four months due to the coronavirus pandemic. Club estimate the move will save them €90m (£80.7m). Should games restart in club will look at the situation again ‘in good faith’.

Good on them. These sort of actions will prevent some clubs going to the wall.

Wow some fucking common sense!

Wouldn’t even take 8 players. Just one person which can include coaching staff toDoris the tea lady, if they’ve been around the team then technically the whole club would have to go in to isolation.

Even if it was the bloke Doris was fucking had it the club would have to go in lockdown!

Not sure if this has been covered, but if the PL season is deemed void, does that mean all personal achievments are wiped out too? Like PL debuts, goals, assists etc?

I don't think so, I think it's just the outcome of the season is void, but anything that has happened still stands. As if you take away goals and debuts as the season didn't happen, then all transfers and sackings would technically be reverted also, and that won't happen.

Apologies if already covered but if it’s voided then presumably we are back in the Champions League next year?

If it's voided then most likely yes. The probability is that they'd use last season's standings, which would see us qualify. The outside chance is that they'd use the UEFA Coefficient, in which case we're 5th in England and would qualify so long as Man City remain banned.

They'd never void this season with Liverpool all but guaranteed champions. They'll just start continue were they left off next February if they have to

The Premier League faces losses of £1.2billion if the season is cancelled, compared to £169million if games are played behind closed doors.

The various scenarios for the ending of this season in various competitions are quite a puzzle. e.g If UEFA abandon the Champions League but say French or Italian Leagues manage to complete what happens to Napoli and Lyon both still in Champions League but looking unlikely to finish in Champions League spots for next season in their respective leagues, do they get into next seasons CL or not.

Lol. no they technically wouldn't.

The only real scenario that fits where there is precedent, would be where teams fold during a season and their record is expunged (e.g. Aldershot in 1992 after they had played 36 games)
It that case all games they were involved in were deemed not to have happened, so individual appearances and goals would not count, similar also to any match that is abandoned.

However I still am of firm belief, and always have been that this season will finish, and in all likelihood being closed doors in sterilized conditions at training grounds, be that in June, July or even September (with transfer window and next season adjusted accordingly)

We all want football back
Honestly, I'm not sure I do. I haven't missed it at all since it all stopped. I know for damn sure that I wouldn't be feeling so sanguine if books, films, TV, music and video games had been unavailable to me for the last few weeks, but honestly I haven't been jonesing for football (or any sport) even a little. This is making me consider whether I actually like the game, full stop.

Sterilised conditions does not exist when dealing with human beings. Right now the appetite I have for football is zero %. But admittedly that could change. I don’t give a toss about the alleged integrity of football. It is the integrity of capitalism, and sod the sport itself. Human beings make sport, along with the fans. So how on earth do you defend that? Another one of my very close friends (61 years old) has been diagnosed with acute Covid-19. The father of my son’s best friend, and someone I have known for 35 years is in hospital for it. And he is a fanatical yanited fan, who used to travel from London to Old Trafford for 70-80% their games. He has 75% chance of beating this. His name is Wellington.

so sorry if I don’t buy all this crap about playing the games. F all that ??
