We’d finish 9th (below arsenal) if the EPL follow the Scottish FA and apply points per game. Gutted as our run-in was very favourable

It's nonsense that, doesn't take into account injuries and form etc.

Thank goodness for that, because our form and injuries before the enforced break, we would have been looking at finishing lower than 9th.
Anyway moot point, season will recommence, and hopefully finish to natural conclusion

Say we beat West Ham with Kane and son in the team and it helps relegate them yet had we played on normally they wouldn’t of been available and West Ham could of picked up
3 points that would guarantee them safety. That doesn’t seem fair to me, even if it is West Ham. It’s all completely different now. It’s in some ways like a different season tacked onto the last one.

We have a massive advantage with the season restarting compared to when it was suspended. Just hope we take advantage of it.

Is that not similar to a game being postponed for weather say and then played 3 weeks later, players may then be available who wouldn’t have been before

Or something that happens more frequently, fixtures moving because of congestion due to progress in cup competitions or replays.

Can you imagine the scenes if Liverpool (who need 5 or 6 points to win the league) had a total collapse in their last 9 games and Man City pipped them at the post.

On the one hand Liverpool fans get what they want (season being finished), but on the other hand it won't be the same conditions compared to where things stood in March.

Not sure they'd ever get over it!!

Man that would be epic. I just hope our own shockingly poor form disappears and we get a groove going with all our injured players back.

Not much hope of European football next season anyway is there?

Why not?

By all accounts leagues throughout Europe will be playing games (albeit in empty or limited capacity stadiums) from next season. I can't see UEFA wanting to cancel the European competitions if the individual leagues are playing.

But that's similar to saying we had an unfair disadvantage when those payers were injured. It's not like we've signed new players in the interim, it's just happened that we had an unlucky period with injuries and now our squad is in a better shape.

Sure it's unlucky and unfortunate that the global pandemic hit at the time it did, but I personally don't think you can call it unfair.

Quarantining travellers across Europe would make it difficult. UK belatedly starting this soon and apparently sports people won’t be exempt. Of course the quarantine measures might be relaxed eventually but bear in mind next season’s Euro competitions are supposed to start soon - and this season’s competitions haven’t even concluded yet.

Logistical nightmare although I’ve no doubt UEFA will try to find a way - too much money in it.

Maybe that’s what the government means when they said football is going to help raise the spirit of the nation, they’re going to help make sure Liverpool blow the title!

That would make millions happy!!!

If one nation quarantines travelers from abroad which is a very likely occurrence, its done. In all of UEFA’s greed, they’ll undoubtedly try to find a way but there wont be Europe next season. Nor will there by the Euros or the Olympics if a vaccine isnt approved and widely available by March.
