Very good shout regarding Leicester being pulled back into the mix. With no European distractions and a healthy 10 point gap you could be forgiven in thinking they have things wrapped up, however, after a fantastic start, they seem to be waning. They have a talented and balanced squad but it isn't deep, and things seem to be catching up with them. If over the next 6 games or so we can close the gap to striking distance (say 5-7 points) things will get very interesting, particularly as we play them at home in our penultimate match of the season.

I think it will be like last year where teams are falling over themselves not to qualify. Although are performances have been vanilla we've been picking up points and that's the important thing at this time of year.

Leicester have City at the weekend. Could be great for us if we beat Chelsea and City win. We could be above Chelsea and only 7 points behind Leicester. Yes I know if if if..

Just Noticed Leicester have won 1, drawn 2 and lost 2 in their last 5 league games and play City next.

Unlikely but they might be catchable.

Great point.

UEFA work by consent. Individual clubs may disagree with certain rules or rulings but they submit themselves to their authority. Man City don’t have to do this but the whole reason they are upset is they want to be part of this great competition that UEFA organise. So they must accept the legitimacy of a body they willingly defer to and greatly benefit from.

Given all this, they cannot make arguments about the constitutional unfairness of the body. All football bodies create laws with the input of its members and for their benefit. Who the fuck else would Man City have impose sanctions? Insanity. Will the FA no longer have the power to impose bans?

If Man City believe in such fundamental flaws then they should withdraw entirely from all football bodies. Have fun playing Sunday league.

Edit: Even Sunday leagues have rules that clubs willingly submit themselves to. Perhaps they could play friendlies?

You know the absolute perfect place for City to go and play? UAE Pro League. Their owner already has two clubs in that league, why not make it a third? Absolute perfect match, and they wouldn’t be missed by anyone other than the City fans

if this Chelscum Manure game ends at this scoreline we are going to get the full wrath Chelsea on saturday. I got the feeling this is going to be a battle of the bridge part 2. I'm calling an absurdly dangerous tackle from Rudiger that will not be ruled a red and a full fight breaks out after the game of a 1-2 win to us

Would rather have it this way. The pressure will be on them to win, and hopefully that could lead to a few mistakes.

Regardless we're still in a good position. Played Liverpool and City twice and we'll have played all of the remaining top teams away from home after Saturday.

Leicester have only got 2 points less than us since Mourinho took over but I don't think we should write them off to fall back a bit and join in this scrap - they've quietly been on a pretty shocking run since they won on New Year's Day.

Weird game with the VAR decisions and such but Chelsea and United were both very poor by and large.

Since mid-November Chelsea have only take 15 of the available 42 points. Barely a point a game. Plus their last 7 at the Bridge (2W, 1D, 4L).

We’re not in a perfect state currently and are traditionally shit against Chelsea but Chelsea are really poor at the moment. Let’s not forget their manager is an absolute novice who coached one year in the Championship.

If Abraham, Kante, Hudson-Odoi, and Pulisic are out again, it’s not exactly a terrifying starting XI. If we put in a good performance I feel like we should win.

Chelsea like to attack from wide positions, with the likes of Pedro and Willian drifting inside for the full backs to overlap. One thing that was patently obvious from tonight's game: if Aurier plays right back next week, Azpilicueta will rip us a new one down our right flank.

Don’t think Aspi can rip anyone a new one to be Frank... he can cause us problems by «being there» but it is not like playing Ronaldo or Messi... ?

I'll happily take a point on Saturday. We'll do better in the last twelve games than they will.

My concern is we don't have United's relative solidity at the back. Chelsea knock it around with a bit of style in midfield even if they've got shit all up front. And we're giving up multiple chances against every team we play. They're on a shocking run of form but I can still see them beating us comfortably if we defend as we've defended in recent games.

That's a rinse and repeat statement for use every week
