Weirdly to a degree it’s still in our own hands. Chelsea still have to go to Etihad and Anfield that you’d expect them to lose and we have to play them twice. So that’s 12 pts right there ?

We’ve only gained 24 points from the previous 75 available so we’ll have to turn a massive corner and hope Chelsea and Leicester suddenly turn into relegation candidates

Indeed. Funny though as I recall calming people down here last year in March when they were concerned we would drop out of the top4 - I said our form would have to nosedive so dramatically to be a problem... we had been playing badly but had never anticipated how desperate it became. In hindsight, we went from title to relegation form within 8 weeks between December 2018 and February 2019. If it wasn't for the utter incompetence of Arsenal - we'd have been playing Europa League this season.

Point is that we are likely out of the equation but better teams than LCFC and CFC have suddenly and inexplicably lost form. Equally, 'if' and it is a huge 'if' we can get our sh*t together there may be some hope)

Could you make dozens of scenarios like that ? Cause I can’t think of another one. Our main rival going to the 2 hardest grounds in the PL and us having to play them twice. What’s another scenario like that ?

We are 3 pts off 5th place and 11 pts off 4th with 78 pts to play for.

You're right, it's over.
Lol tell ya what, go stick a score on us getting 4th and see where that gets you when the season finishes.

Well, there are other clubs involved other than us and Chelsea for a start. What about it being in all of their hands too. In any case, as I'm sure you probably accept, it isn't going to happen this season because we are simply not good enough.

It's not even the New Year yet, if we're 7 or 8 points going into February, anything is possible.

People forget that it's a long old season.

I’m still pretty convinced Chelsea aren’t all that. Their best league wins are away at Burnley and wolves. Every other game you’d expect them to win.

Even if Leicester and Chelsea nosedive into oblivion, we are clearly not going to suddenly turn things around and start winning most of our games. It's just not going to happen

It’s all good saying other teams can and will cock up, but where is the evidence that we are going to start winning and take advantage? We look completely shot and have been dogshit in the league for 8 months. We have won 6 games in our last 24 league games, absolute pathetic. B

Yeah this is it really. Just using maths to say it’s only 11 points doesn’t tell the story. If we were 11 points behind Liverpool, but playing really well then you could say we had an outside chance if they dropped a level.

Right now, not only will Chelsea or Leicester have to have a blip ( which is perfectly possible), but we have to go on a massive winning run at the same time.

It ain’t happening.

Only chance of Chelsea and Leicester dropping points is if Abraham and Vardy get injured and they dont buy a suitable replacement in January

But that's a debate for another thread.....

Careful, positivity like that is considered trolling in here, you don't want to get banned mate.
There's no doubt that we could still get top 4. What I think we are all struggling with is how this team are suddenly going to click and go on a good run.
