I don't know if anyone else feels the same but I believe since Poch has been at the club I feel our profile and recognition has grown around the world.

In years gone by people would either dismiss us or belittle us within the praise offered.

Just this week Torres spoke affectionately of us as a club and team. I live in Brazil and more and more people tell me that they really like our team, even if one of their golden boys (Paulinho) failed.

At the tail end of last season poch said that players want to join spurs and that this is encouraging. More and more fans, clubs and players seem to be standing up and taking note of us.

Whilst marketing and taking part in preseason tournaments in Australia certainly boost our profile, I do believe the environment Poch is creating is playing a crucial role, surely any hard working ambitious pro footballer can see the focus and determination on display from our players and would feel a desire to be a part of it?

Anyone else noticing this?

Having a title challenge in the world's best league with a very young side tends to help.

Though I suppose that's mostly down to Poch so same difference (y)

Like it or not these pre-season jaunts to the other side of the world is what builds that profile. Sadly taking only Lamela and Eriksen as our only real big names and then flopping so badly like we did in the 1st half damages that profile. I stated in another thread that I cannot see our sponsors being anywhere near happy with the squad that we have taken to Oz. Personally I'm happy with them being left behind to work on their fitness but sponsorship is a massive part of the game nowadays and I cant help but think that this tour has gone down very badly with ours.

Juventus have done exactly the same. It's not really our fault. People have very short memories - this happens after every international tournament.

Bit difficult to take those players seeing as they're on holiday

I would agree if there hadn't been a major international tournament only a few weeks ago ......

Its very small time to be honest. The game against Dortmund annoyed me. And this does too. What is the point in bothering if we arnt gonna take it seriously?

Seems a tad harsh, I'm sure those youngsters that featured were more than grateful for the opportunity to showcase their talent. It appears to have got many somewhat excited about some of our youngsters close to breakthrough.

Yes I'm sure sponsors crave the big names on show, but these tournaments surely have to be about giving those on the fringe a run out also, allowing for Poch to cast his beady eye in different match conditions? .

Were both Wimmer and Eriksen not supposed to be included?, seems a reasonable mix of first teamers and youth IMO.

Maybe we should have fitted in a game in South Korea while we are that part of the world to capitalise commercially on Son.

I don't think the sponsors will get too upset. Frankly if you look at our team, we could be playing the next Kane, Dier or Alli against these teams but we wouldn't know yet. And both our summer signings were starting players.

I think coming 3rd has helped raise our profile but that can easily end if we go back to being 5th/6th, which is very possible.

Small time? It literally happened because so many of our players got so far in the Euros. THAT is good exposure. It's the exact opposite of small time.

It's preseason, it isn't meant to be taken seriously. It's meant to allow the staff to assess fringe players and youngsters, and to bring fitness levels up.

Talked to a woman at work the other day and she said her husband is an obsessed THFC fan. I was shocked, but really pleased. I still get the "who?!" when I tell people I support Spurs here in the US.

Nevertheless, I am both expecting and excited to hear of more fans this season. I don't mind too much if they get on our "bandwagon." Even if people hop off, some will stay because they fall in love with the club that has our hearts.

Hardly surprising, we haven't won anything for 8 years and before last season only qualified for the CL once, thats not really attractive to your average person looking to support a new club.
