Son clear MOTM. Good performance from Winks.

Shockers from Rose and Sanchez, amazed they started and staggered they played the entire game.

I'll give it to Winks
coz someone just said "What did he ever add?" :finger: and actually gave him less than Sanchez and Rose :ROFLMAO:

Sanchez: Horrible
Lloris: Good shot stopping but what the hell is with his footwork?

The whole team was dodgy in second half.

Poch: Needs to go back to the drawing board. They all know how to stop us it seems.

Hugo 7. Crazy with his passing but strong saves

Rose 5 sloppy first half , responsible for that crucial goal. But did okay against njie

Toby and Jan 7

Sanchez 5 - got more comfortable as it went on but all over the place really

Eriksen 6 soft in challenging arsenal players, good anticipation for goal, bypassed second half

Lamela 7 good movement, attacking
intelligence

Winks 5.5
Sissoko 6.5 worked hard did some really good things but has zero passing ability or shot technique

Son 7 - constant attacking threat, bit headless chicken though

Kane 5 good pen, typical Kane of late though.

1st half, upto their goal I thought we were pretty good (Sanchez aside) and unfortunate not to be further ahead, the gooners defense and midfield were almost nonexistent. We were poor in the 2nd but still could have stolen the points at the end. I would have taken 2 draws from the Emirates and the Etihad at the start of the season.

If Sissoko didn’t have the composure of a wasp being electrocuted, away to a very dangerous arsenal side, we created a lot. Sissoko takes that shot or the earlier pass well, or Son doesn’t overplay every time, or Kane’s shot goes one inch to the right on the post, and we win this game. We had far more intensity and cohesion than we’ve had so far this season, most of what Arsenal did was the result of a sloppy mistake, including both goals (Vertonghen and Rose respectively). I’m also not sure how Kane being shoved by Sokratis isn’t a penalty.

Generally I’m fine with today’s performance, it’s a heated match with a lot of emotion, tactics are difficult to impose, most players were decent or better on an individual level and for actual chances we had more today than the rest of the season put together.

Sloppy defensive mistakes and switching off cost us today, but as a cohesive attacking unit we were the best we’ve been in ages, without being close to our best but still very good.

Lloris: some concerning distribution, saved a few long shots well, generally good.

Sanchez: solid enough in the first half, but you could tell he was making his debut at right back in the second half. As expected not anything to offer going forward.

Alderweireld: some decent interceptions, not anything too memorable in the plus or minus column.

Vertonghen: committed too early on the first arsenal goal and got done, didn’t move across to block the run on the second albeit not helped by his left back.

Rose: mixed bag. Lots of committed challenges and visually catching remonstrations to tick the ‘look how passionate I am’ box, but his horrible surrendering of possession under no pressure gave Arsenal the impetus to force us back on the first goal, and as much as Vertonghen didn’t move into line for the second goal, Rose was the defender with eyes on Aubameyang and should run with him, but recently he just seems keener to admire the cross from the other side rather than tuck in. No positioning, no anticipation.

Winks started well enough but I feel he deteriorated. In part he was playing as a one man midfield, which doesn’t help, but he also needs to involve himself more than he does when we’re under pressure.

Sissoko: just poor, no composure, great run followed by a horrible mess for an easy pass, and glorious pass from Harry later gets skied. His limitations undo anything good he does sadly. Good tackle early on covering Sanchez.

Lamela: decent performance, seemed to flit out of the game second half, linked well with the entire attack and did well for the first goal (albeit he should’ve scored himself).

Eriksen: good performance, clever to follow the Lamela shot for his goal while the defence slept, passed well and is the reason our play was varied. I hope he stays the season even if he leaves for free.

Son: great running, scared the hell out of Arsenal, deserved penalty, but he was indecisive in key moments I felt.

Kane: don’t understand the flak he’s getting today. No his best perhaps, but win the header for the first goal, took a great penalty, unlucky not to score when he hit the post (lovely turn, one-two and run considering he’s ‘bambi on ice’ according to one SC lunatic) and should have had a penalty. He was also given very rough treatment all match.

Dele: got involved, not much impact.
Lo Celso: no impact.

Long and short of it is, four games in, three very good results (nobody else has had two games away to top six sides), and one horror show. Get players fit in the next fortnight, we’ve got a good platform to push on.

Not sure how we walked away with a point? But well happy with it considering the battering we took in the second half.

I'm not sure what else Poch could have done to grip the game.in the CM positions?

I would criticise him for leaving Rose on for so long, he was done in by 55 mins.

Sanchez was awful really. But, he isn't a.RB so it's a bit harsh to lay too much criticism at him. Says a lot when you have a natural RB on the bench who poch didnt trust to bring on?

Kane. Obviously a super player but he isn't beyond criticism. Whilst he lacked service of any note, he doesn't quite grab the game.by the balls like he used to. When he went full beast, shrugged off players and powered through defences. I dont think the current system helps him much. Gets crowded out and still drops deep.

Lloris motm for me. A couple of world class saves won us a point. Despite some dodgy foot work.

The sooner we have a technically gifted CM alongside Winks the better.

Dele still not upto speed.

Our game management is awful. Conceding before half-time, wow.

Why were we so so open too?
If we were planning to operate defensively we'd be much more solid imo. I honestly think we just got destroyed in midfield yet again.

Combo of Rose, Sanchez, Lloris kicking together with Winks and Sissoko ensured that we invited way to much pressure. Lloris with excellent saves so he is forgiven, and Winks imo tried hard and had some key interventions. Individually Rose and Sanchez were terrible, Sissoko ok, Winks decent and Lloris good.

Thank god for Jan and Toby together in central defence.

Son strong in the first half, Eriksen good in patches, and Kane looking more lively yet not quite the confidence of old. Lamela tried and there were some good moments but he spends too much time on the ball and I never quite understand his pressing where he always seems to either wants to run through the back of his man or the 'wrong' way around.

Lo Celso looked great and composed when he came on.
Poch needs to react much quicker and never ever put Sanchez at right back again.
Atkinson all at sea.

That was a better performance however I was a bit cheesed off we didn’t manage the game better being 0-2 up. I was impressed by Harry Winks energy and speed. Son Was great in the first half he made some excellent runs that stretched them. Lloris made some important saves but his kicking oh boy.

Sanchez played out of position and looked uncomfortable at times but was fairly good defending one on one Rose on the other hand was absolutely poor and should be dropped for his part in Arsenal getting that goal first half.

Great to see Alli back and once that European Window closes we should all know were we stand

8 - Winks, Lamela, Son

7 - Lloris, Eriksen, Toby

6 - Rose, Jan

5 - Kane

4 - Sissoko

3 - Sanchez

Kane has been poor for awhile now. And he dives. Bloody hell. He couldve made a better choice and look for a teammate instead of falling at the slightest touch.

Sissoko really pisses me off in the opponent's box. The guy just does not have it at all when it comes to scoring. As a teammate, i would avoid altogether passing to him when we're in a scoring position.

Sanchez - OMG. What a pitiful performance at RB. No more Poch

Sometimes i really question Poch's tactical awareness. Taking out Lamela for Dele when he was our most industrious player. And what did Dele do, apart from looking fat? And he goes on to sub Sonny for GLC when Sonny was our biggest threat with pace upfront.

Some of you are being utter ****s about Sanchez. Nowhere near as bad as you’re making out.

I disagree though don't think I am being a ****. His decision making was terrible, his positioning poor, and he spends too much time on the ball when he is pressured. This was in a position that he is clearly not suited for so I'll put part of the blame on Poch. He tries hard though it looks like his confidence is shot. Today he reminded me most of the first season Sissoko.

I still think he will become a great central defender if that is any consolation.
