Is there an option for Bjorn Engels who gifted us the 3 points? Definitely wasn't Dele who kept missing chances and offered little else.

Another thing.......opportunity missed with Grealish, but we all knew that.

We created a ton of chances and should have won by more. Villa played well though.

When you've got no midfield suppose you're bound to make villa look too good to go down.

Hopefully Newcastle crush arse to cap off the weekend

I try:

Hugo Lloris - 5.5 - everytime a ball flighs high into our 16yard box I am nervous. And he is probably too and stays on his line.
Serge Aurier - 5 - Good tactics by Villa having their best player behind Serge. He was in trouble and wasteful up front
Alderweireld - 6 - Mixed bag. Lost pace and was too easily beaten at the corner but did good for the 1-1.
Sanchez - 7 - solid in my eyes
Davies - 7 - same
Dier - 6 - don't know what he really offers but wasn't a disaster
Winks - 7 - Anonymous in first half but run the show as soon as Gio was next to him.
Lucas - 7 - good effort
Bergwijn - 7.5 - like him a lot. Good decision making compared to the others and won the pen. My MOTM
Dele - 4.5 - got in good positions but his finishing and decision making was beyond a joke.
Son - 6.5 - Well, I think he was completely wasteful and had a shocker, still got two goals and a last second winner that gives him two extra points and us too.

Lo Celso - 7 - not sublime but tried and was involved. Good corners.
Gedson - NET - Some good skills there.
Vertonghen - 10

Good: Bergwijn, Davies, Sanchez, Lo Celso
OK: Winks
Not great: Aurier, Lloris, Lucas
Bad: Alli, Dier
Pretty fucking dodgy but redeemed by an individual moment of genius: Toby, Son

Lloris 6 - needs to command his box much better than today. Toby could have done a lot better for their first goal, but the ball landed within a metre of where Lloris had been standing when the cross was first hit.
Aurier 6 - much better 2nd half, but was pretty useless first half.
Toby 6 - Looks a lot slower again today. His goal was incredible technique. Jointly at fault for their first goal, and bested for their 2nd.
Sanchez 7 - The ball doesn’t always goes where he wants it to, but he won most of his duels.
Davies 7 - Tidy in possession, defended well.
Dier 4 - Gave the ball away 12 times in an hour. We looked so much better when he went off for Lo Celso. Shouldn’t be considered for CM anymore.
Winks 6 - Massively improved once Lo Celso came on.
Dele 6 - Constantly got into really good positions but messed up 4 or 5 very good chances. But he did get into those positions. On another day he has a hat trick. Needs to try and learn to kick / shoot with his other foot. And needs to pass more.
Son 7 - Same as Dele but scored the winner after missing multiple good chances and was too selfish at times.
Moura 7 - Put a shift in deeper and was good.
Bergwijn 7 - Won the penalty and should have scored at least one.

Lo Celso - 8 Shame he was not risked from the start.
Gedson - 7 Nice cameo.
Verts - n/a

Jose - 6 Should realise by now that the Dier Winks axis in CM is very bad. I can see what his set up is - even when playing badly we create 4 or 5 very good chances by having 3 or 4 fast, dangerous players, and if we can do the defensive basics we’d be winning 2 or 3 nil every week.

Bergwijn mom - seems to have it all, good hold up play, fast, creative, goals. Absolute bargain - 8

Davinson - very solid - 8

Toby - a bit mental today but a 7 for the goal

Serge and Davies both started out struggling but both recovered. 7

Winks - not a great first half but tried to take the initiative and made some driving runs from deep, looks comfortable with GLC. 7

Dier - shocking first 30 but recovered. 6

GLC - looked good as usual 7
Gedson - I like this kid (net)

Dele - looked bright and mercurial early on but faded a bit. 6

Lucas - much better in his preferred position. 7

Son - still not on form but looks like a cf, what a winner. 7

Lloris - a bit flappy 6

I thought our forward line looked a lot more balanced today, we created quite a few chances and lots of space, just crap finishing.

Lloris 5 - don't like how he moves before 1-0. Not his fault, but I think he confuses Alderweireld. 2-2 isn't his fault either, but a goalkeeper could punch that. So lucky with the one shot that hits his face.

Aurier 5 - looks worse than he is today. A bit all over the place as usual, but he isn't really that exposed defensively today. 5 because of his poor crossing.

Sanchez 7 - thought he got a foot or a head on quite a lot today. Never exposed like Davies and Toby in terms of pace.

Alderweireld 6 - great finish, but that own goal is poor. Also far too easy for Grealish on what should have been 2-0 and most likely game over. Difficult to stop Grealish, but no need for him to get committed so early. Other than that solid.

Davies 6 - gets turned easily once. Safe and steady. Didn't mind that performance first time back.

Dier 2 - it is like the ball is a grenade. He loses possession so easily and when he doesn't he just stands in the way until Winks passes him the ball from 2 yards away. His movement off the ball to make himself available is horrible. Worse than Sissoko. Defensively there is nothing. Funnily enough he was up against the only player in the league slower than him in Drinkwater and he still can't make a mark on the game.

Winks 6 - him and Dier do not work. He is nothing with Dier. Much better with Lo Celso. Not great, but at least good.

Son 7 - impossible to rate. Scores 2, but he also misses a penalty and doesn't contribute with much other than that pass to Alli and the last goal. 7 instead of 6 for actually putting the last one away. As Alli showed it isn't that easy scoring.

Alli 4 - credit for being involved in front of goal, but he got to score and he has to be more involved in general play from that position. Works hard at least so he isn't a liability.

Bergwijn 7 - I like him a lot. Seems smarter than Lucas and Son. Covers well defensively and did manage to unsettle Villa a bit with his pace. Not brilliant, but solid performance.

Lucas 6 - works hard, but when it counts his head is down as usual. He slips by a defender like Grealish, but from then on the difference in quality is enormous. With Grealish you can see how he evaluates the best next course of action. Lucas just drops his head even further and you just pray for a lucky bounce. Did ok, but if he didn't work as hard as he does it would be easy to get very frustrated with him in games like this.

Lo Celso 6 - did well. It is like Winks wakes up with him. Nice pass to Aurier at least once. Eriksen-like. Was hoping he would really take control of the game, but that never happened. All in all still good.

Not rateing Gedson, but he has some potential for sure. I like his confidence. Like Bergwijn he looks at home on the pitch.

Heart-stopping performance. Almost literally in our house.
Bergwijn (7+) probably our best player. Didn't fuck up hardly at all.
Lo Celso (7) gave us some control
Winks(7) Steadily improved especially with someone to play with
The rest (6) (Curate's egg: good in parts my Lord)

But we won: penalty in extra time in first half
winner in extra time in the second half.
