A clean sheet and three points on a cold and rainy Monday night in Burnley, thank you very much!

These are the games that a league contender have to carve out a win, even if the performance was not eye candy

Good team effort, Kane my MOTM for his clearance off the line, followed by that assist to Son

Thought Doherty was very poor, Sissoko was...well...Sissoko, and Lucas struggled.

In truth we probably didn't create enough to warrant three points but with Kane and Son something can always happen. Big shout out to Dier and Toby for keeping a clean sheet against Wood and Barnes.

Seeing that out will be a MASSIVE boost after the West Ham game, hopefully we can find a bit of balance now going forward and get Lo Celso and Bale re-integrated.

Kane for the clearing and general defensive work, with an assist added. Hard fought game.

Thought Davies had a stinker. Doherty wasn't great either but had some decent moments. Tough match to watch, not pretty. Burnley deserved something, so for us to get 3 is a massive relief.

Definitely Toby. He owned Wood today, despite being sucker punched by Barnes early on. Him and Dier were great at CB. Loris was very good too coming for those corners as they were building momentum.

Toby has a good game but Kane got an assist and a last man clearance. Must be Kane

Also, the sub today is more like the usual the Jose than the West Ham one. I like it

My head says Toby but my heart gives it to Kane. Simply put, we don’t win today’s game without him.

A horrible game to watch, not that I expected us to waltz through their defence, but a fantastic win.

Hojbjerg was excellent throughout and looks much more positive on the ball now that he’s settled in.

I was critical of Davies’ crossing and negative passing but he made a couple of important blocks.

Lamela gave us some grit when he came on and put in two decent corners.

Lamela should have started tonight, you need people to go around kicking the shit out of the Burnley's and Stoke's of this world and he's one of the few who will do it but Toby wins it for me, so much so that i'll even spell his surname correctly... Alderweireld

Trying:

Lloris - 8 - good and at the end even more commanding than usual at corners. Not too much to do otherwise

Doherty - 5 - easily beaten, no good delivery, Serge is leading the race
Alderweireld - 9 - Faultless performance, their strikers did nothing, MOTM
Dier - 7 - nearly gave away a cheap goal or big chance by not clearing it better, otherwise good
Davies - 6 - average, should not start ahead of Regi

Hojbjerg - 7 - did some solid things and won some battles, gave the ball needless away in dangerous position in first half. Had better games but i like how he sets the tempo
Sissoko - 5 - Just not my cup of tea. Everytime he is on the ball he slows everything down or misplaces passes slightly or is even putting his teammates under pressure. But battled well in the end
Ndombele - 6.5 - tough game for him. Had some good moments in first half

Lucas - 5.5 - Classic Lucas. Impressing in Europa and then just showing nothing in the league.
Son - 7 - scored the winner, not much else
Kane - 8 - saved the ball on the line, worked hard, another great assist. Of course not much in front of goal this time but i dont care if we keep getting the points

Lamela - 7 - brought some energy, was okay
Gio - NET
Rodon - close to a 10 but NET

Burnley are a good side. Organised, almost impossible to break down at times coupled with a good midfield and attacking purpose. This was a really good win, away from home. I wasn't sure why we played like the early poch days, insisting on being so narrow through the middle. But eventually the lads sussed it in the second half and changed it about a bit. I think the game would have been out of sight with a few changes to the line up though. Swap the full backs and we win that in style. Id also leave Lucas out for games like this. He is more effective against sides that open up more.

Toby had a great game and was my motm. Dier played well too.

Notable mentions to Harry Kane, (defender, midfielder and striker) and Son. That goal was the result of such quick thinking and reactions.

Overall, a fine win against a tough opponent.

Going to give MOTM to Toby. Kane, Hojbjerg and Hugo all very good. Dier did ok as did Son, Tanguy and Sissoko. Our fullbacks were really poor.

In this positive spirit we’re all adopting after a great result, I’ll give props to Davies for an excellent block not long before we scored. He’s not what we want in a full back, but he’s dependable at the back and gives it his all. Need him in this squad.
