Marco Rose has backed Timo Werner's decision to leave RB Leipzig ahead of his loan move to Tottenham. The former Chelsea striker is on the verge of sealing a return to the Premier League, having agreed to join Spurs for the rest of the season.

It has been widely reported that the deal includes an option for Tottenham to make the move a permanent one in the summer for a fee in the region of £15million, should Werner impress over the next five months. Spurs will cover his salary in full for the duration of the loan spell.

Pretty sensible bit of business. 5 months loan, with option to buy for 15 million by all accounts.
Numbers aren’t great for this season, but then has had injuries and hasn’t played a great deal.
Very quick, and good assist record too. Great attitude, and a hard worker.
I’m sure Ange will get the best out of him 👍

Got premier league experience, won the champions league, full German international, needs to play to go to the Euros and we only have one striker at the club.

Fair play, we desperately need a striker and we've moved fast on that. Could be like the Eider Gudjohnsen signing, who scored us some vital goals in getting that first CL spot. Wouldn't mind him hanging about if he settles in.

I agree. Eidur was approaching the end of his career - Werner is 27 and potentially at his peak. We know Ange can get the very best out of players that buy into his philosophy. I’ve read Werner wants to play in an Ange team. This could be a brilliant move all round.

It's funny how now we have signed him everyone finds all these good things about him. People have forgotten how a total flop he was at Chelsea. I don't think I've ever seen anyone miss so many opportunities as he did that last season and what is he 3rd or 4th choice at Leipzig. God help us if Ange plays Him and Richarlson up front. Personally I would rather have given Scarlett a run until Son comes back. Remember the last time we gave a young striker a chance? He turned into the best striker in the World!

Chelsea paid a massive fee for him. Maybe that affected him. We're getting him on a 'try before you buy' basis, and he fits Ange's philosophy much better than he did in his time at Chelsea. Might be a real coup.

I hope you're right but I'm not confident.

Nonsense. Scarlett struggled to get a game in the Championship, Werner is an international.
Just checking his RB record before Chelsea, he got 78 goals in 127 games. If we can get anything like that out of him, he’ll be an asset. There’s obviously a very good player in there.

What happens if we don’t sign him and Scarlett picks up a knock?

So did Kane Millwall didn't rate him at all. Scarlett needs a run then see if he's any good. I think you'll be more dissapointed with Werner than you would with Scarlett. Don't rate the guy at all.

Don't think it's an either/or situation, Werner will fill the position Perisic's injury has left, Scarlett the same but for Veliz. Werner will get regular game time starting as an alternative to Richy up top or Son on the left, Scarlett will get 20-30 minutes later on to run at tired legs once Werner or Richy have given the opposition a good workout.
