Tottenham Hotspur growing in confidence of signing Richarlison from Everton

Richarlison’s preference to move to Spurs is seen as a key development as the clubs attempt to find an agreement over a fee and deal

Tottenham Hotspur are growing in confidence that they can seal a deal to sign Richarlison from Everton with the player keen on joining Antonio Conte’s squad.

Richarlison’s preference to make the move to Spurs is seen as a key development as the clubs attempt to find an agreement over a fee and deal.

As reported by Telegraph Sport, Tottenham have tried to tempt Everton into taking players such as Steven Bergwijn and Lucas Moura as part of a deal, while Everton's interest in signing Harry Winks on loan has also been mentioned in negotiations.

Bergwijn wants to move to Ajax, while Moura is not pushing to leave Spurs so the most likely scenario remains that Richarlison will move for a straight fee.

Everton value Richarlison at over £50million, but Tottenham could bring the fee down by writing off add-ons they agreed as part of Dele Alli’s free transfer move in January. Everton are due to pay Spurs £10m once the former England international has made 20 appearances for the club and there are other performance-related add-ons.

Tottenham’s negotiations to sign Richarlison have also been bolstered by Chelsea’s move to sign Raphinha from Leeds United, with the belief that is likely to eliminate the threat of the Stamford Bridge club attempting to hijack the deal.

There had been concerns within Spurs over Chelsea’s interest in Richarlison, but new owner Todd Boehly is pushing ahead with moves for Raphinha and Raheem Sterling while Tottenham and Everton negotiate over Raphinha.

Those talks are now likely to accelerate with Spurs keen to add Richarlison to Conte’s squad as quickly as possible and complete what would be their fourth transfer of the summer window.

Conte also wants a left-sided centre-back and Tottenham are still expected to sign right wing-back Djed Spence from Middlesbrough. But the club have backed away from the race to sign their former midfielder Christian Eriksen on a free transfer.

Associated tweet below. It gives me immense enjoyment to imagine how difficult it was for Matt Law to type this:

It’s possible, and standard, for the wealthiest clubs to fail to meet FFP without having financial problems.
True but who knows what the state their current bank balance is in and owners unless they are Abramovitch can only sustain a certain amount of losses . Apart from FFP Everton could probably do with some cash coming in from sales.
Probably due to income from Euro comps but Deloitte now rank Everton behind Leicester & Wolves in the wealth league.

Are we even sure that he won't feature regularly with Kane on the pitch as opposed to being rotated?

More I think about it, the more I can see us utilising Kane as the playmaker/no10 whichever way you want to carve it, in games where we face a low block and Richarlison further forward. This also compensates us for not necessarily needing that creative midfielder that alot crave as I don't really see how the likes of Paqueta fit in, nor do I envisage us signing more than 2 CB's and a RWB (outside of obviously securing Richarlison).
Not sure, his goal/assist record is a lot better on LW than striker position, but maybe it's because opposing teams could double mark him with DCL being injured. He will find a lot more space with other teams having to watch out for our forwards plus wing backs.

The more time passes, the more i've warmed up to this especially if he can bring the attitude without the diving. While there will be many interesting facets to how AC applies him, he could make our press that much more effective especially against slower defenders. Not sure how to do it but Moura with others on the press could be a sight to behold.

Doesn't sound like a club with plenty of money , sounds like they really need to cash in on Richarlison, have they paid anything for Dele yet ?

"The club has been poorly run under the ownership of Farhad Moshiri.

The Toffees announced losses of £120.9 million in the last financial year, £139.9 million in 2020, £111.8 million in 2019 and £13.1 million in 2018."

Unless you can backdate transfers they need to have contracts signed for the sale of the player by end of play tomorrow. Sounds like an ideal position for Levy to exert some time pressure on a club. Obviously we want to sell Winks and they want him, but that is probably after the event. Who's to say someone else doesn't come in and take Winks from under Everton's (blue)noses. They will just have to trust us on that one.

Looking at his numbers I was surprised at quite how much he'd played as a centre forward for Everton as in my mind he was always more of a left-winger or wide forward. Turns out he's played up top more than any other position.

Moshiri was bankrolled by Usmanov. Ever since the war & its sanctions, Moshiri's ownership has become pretty untenable.

Once he has signed he will no longer be a diver in my eyes

Instead, he will gracefully fly in a downward trajectory :cautious:

I think having hungry, quality competition/rotation will do the world of good to our other forwards too.

I love Lucas, and think he gets unfair stick, but he can’t do what Son and Kane can do. And while Bergwijn is talented, he’s never really threatened Son. I think Richarlison can do that, and that will push Sonny on to even greater heights.

There is a lot to like about Richarlison - but one of the intangibles I really like, is how much he backs himself to succeed.

This deal alone is a risky deal for a player pushing for a spot on the Brazilian National team in 6 months time. He goes from a guaranteed starter (and star of the team) to a situation where he will have to fight for minutes.

I like that level of confidence from him - and hope that maybe some of that wears off on Sessegnon.

Been watching YT clips trying to get some enthusiasm going but its all a bit meh.
Great workrate and will die for the team which is good... That's about all I've seen other than a nice overhead goal.
I don't watch Everton much, what are his strengths?

Very good movement, particularly in runs behind, quick, strong and is able to score with either feet and with his head.

I know Lucas has great stamina and work rate, but asking him to do two players work when pressing seems a bit over the top.
