AmpliarBaldini and Toldrá in Valencia
Roberto Soldado will almost certainly be a Tottenham Hotspur player as of Tuesday after a day of intense meetings that left Valencia and the English club on the point of a finalised deal. Tottenham Hotspur technical director Franco Baldini arrived in Valencia in the morning and met the player's agent, Alberto Toldrá, before sitting down with Valencia president Amadeo Salvo.
Tottenham are yet to offer the full 30 million buy-out clause, but are very close (sources say 26 million plus variables) that nobody is any doubt that they will get there eventually. Valencia will approve the sale at a board meeting on Tuesday, which was organised before the transfer situation arose but will deal with the matter. The player is likely to earn around 3.5 million euros a year.
"The two clubs have spoken and Valencia made it clear that they wanted 30 milllion euros", said Salvo. "Tottenham's mission is to get the player as cheaply as possible, while ours is to receive 30 million. There's not much room for manouevre. For a deal to take place two things have to happen: the player has to want to go and they need to pay what Valencia demand. The board will study the situation", he said.

true, but not sure the Beast will be ready to start by the beginning of the season,.... what about this until he's healthy?

Dembele Paulinho Holtby

Chadli Soldado Bale

P.S. Imagine the Ade of 2 seasons ago in between them wingers, eh? :bag: :mask:
... yeah, I can't either

:playful:
It'll be interesting to see who ends up on the bench too what with Ade, Defoe, Siggy, Holtby, Lennon and Townsend competing for a few attacking spots.

Great options though!

From RAWK after they've learned we are leading the race for him:

Soldado is a bit of a Spanish Darren Bent.

:ROFLMAO:

They missed their chance,... should've said he's the Spanish Robbie Keane, then they would have yet another oportunity at their revisionist history and claim how they scouted him and we took their player... I do believe DL made a profit on Robbie's to and fro from merseyside :sneaky:

RAWK is pur comedy gold and it is the only thing I like about liverpool,..... well,.... and the beatles... :pompous:

The reports from Spain is, as we know, that personal terms have been settled. Our friend from the Valencia supporters club in Scandinavia (quoted earlier in this thread) has this to say:

@AndersHotspur yes, agent earlier said "my work is done" and Marca reporting agreement on a 3,5 million euro deal

€3.5 million euro/year is something like €65K/week unless my napkin math is completely off.

That makes a pretty high transfer sum understandable, if you compare the wages to those of, say, David Villa where resale value would be 0 and wages at least the double of Soldado for 4/5 years. Another reason this may be a goer in my mind.

Seriously, what will all do when we actually sign a top notch striker?!

Maybe the world will cease to exist?!

If we're getting him that cheap in terms of wages it's a phenomenal deal. He'd be making less that Adebayor and Defoe, right?

Way less than what I've heard Adebayor makes, though I don't know how much we're paying Defoe. Still, it sounds like an excellent deal for us and makes a high transfer fee much more likely since it's the combined cost that matters to the club.

Someone here that sounded like they knew what they were talking about said earlier that Valencia don't pay any players more than £2m per year. £3.5m would be a healthy raise for Soldado and actually really affordable for us.

A Gooner I know (not really a mate), messaged me saying we had better antiques in our shop (we own a couple of antiques shops) than the crap that Spurs are buying.

I told him that there was imminent news on Uncle Arsene signing the latest young talent, William and Kates baby, no response yet.

Agree. There were times last season where we didn't have many options on bench. Now we have enough depth to rotate players a bit as well as competition for places. Things are starting to come together, just hope everything clicks for us now.

What will happen then? Bricks will be "shat" and dogs & cats will live in harmony,...... oh, and Spurs will qualify for CL again (y)

Just to forewarn you guys (and gals)....if this falls through I may very well regenerate into Dan Ashcroft.

haha forgot about Dan, and also brett.spurs.. surely with the departure of old man redknapp and the appointed replacement of a young, suave continental coach should have brought them back?

So the Valenica board are meeting tomorrow at 12:00, is that our time? Once that meeting is concluded we can expect to hear something? Can it happen before then?
