Hi fellow Yids.

About 50 Russian Spurs from different cities are going to support the team in Kazan on November 3rd.
Today we have spoken with club safety officer Sue Tilling in Kazan.
She assured us that her take on that all Spurs seat together is absolutely fine. Though she said she must consult with fans going to Russia from England. My aim is to co-ordinate as much as possible with you guys to give united support to the team.
How many of you on SC are going? We want to help you with language and guidance out there. I can provide you with mobile numbers. There will be several people who speak English.
I was informed that away section takes 406 seats. 200 fans expected from England. Russian Spurs get 50 tickets.

Ostrov, when I lived in Yaroslavl, Spartak fans came up and just ripped the place apart. I was involved in two separate incidents that scared the crap out of me.

One thing that I remember is that Russian hooligans really wanted to test themselves against English fans, who they see as the founders of hooliganism. Are Spurs fans likely to come across trouble (unintentionally)? I understand that Kazan is a very friendly city but I would like to know whether there is likely to be violence?

You are right; this is a big problem in Russia. I asked the same question one of the members of organisation Russian Spurs based on www.spurs.ru site that lives in Kazan. About safety. He said that Rubin fans are not as violent as Spartak or Zenit, much less actually. I can't guaranty of course anything. You may find trouble in Iceland I suppose. But personally I don't expect any preplaned attacks on English fans.
As far as I know no Barca or Paok fans have had any troubles.
Violent they may be but proper Russian hooligans differ favourably from other Eastern Europeans. They don't attack ordinary fans and never use shit (knives, bottles) when they fight each other.

Fair play to you fella, proper nice thing to sort out.

I won't be going, because I don't even get to home games, let alone away in strange countries, but very decent of you!

I recall one interesting detail from the meeting in Kazan.
British police officer asked local colleagues if it was allowed to bring banners with Jewish simbols. The answer for me was unexpected:" Yes, as long as it's not a caricature."

Ostrov (or anyone else for that matter) could you give a little information about Kazan? How to get there, what it's like, how much a prostitute  How much a beer? I wont be able to fo this time (just come back from Malta) but might be interested in future and would like to learn more about the place that is not fed by tourist information.
