Shows our lack of ambition really, a free transfer but we won't pay a high wage for a world class player, thats why we won't finish 4th ever under Levy and Redknapp.

Let's not forget that he wanted a lot of money, had a lot of fitness issues, and even when fit, might not have even been first choice. I reckon that if Harry really wanted him, then he'd be a Spurs player. Also, the standard of the german league is nothing on ours.

Not worried about missing out on him. I'm not saying he's not quality but he wanted 100k a week for 18 months, that's £7.5m! We've seen West Ham, Portsmouth and others struggle because they desperately wanted a big name player who is a risk, I'm glad we're not going down the same route.

We need a few experienced dedicated professionals but what we need most is a manager and coaches who can kick Lennons, Huddlestone, Bales etc asses and turn them into top players. Hopefully Redknapp, Jordan and co are the right people for this. We've already seen Lennon and Bale show huge improvements and to an extent Huddlestone, this is our way to the top.

I thought it was his choice not to come, not just to Spurs but back to the PL. So I can't see how Levy or our ambition comes into it

Not sure about finishing 4th, but we will never be in such a financial mess as Liverpool, Man Utd, Portsmouth, Leeds, Southampton, Bradford, etc... whilst Levy is at the helm.

I swear some of you would love to have Peter Ridsdale in charge of the club.

I agree that financially Levy is spot on and fair play to him, but we will never be a top 4 team if Levy never takes a gamble, IMO I don't think Van Nistelrooy would have been a flop, him and Defoe together could have been an awesome strike partnership but we will never know now.

If only it were that simple. Signing RVN and paying him 100k a week is one thing but when we start doing that other players who have contributed more for Spurs for a longer time will then start wondering why they're not on similar money.

I remember reading an interview with Robert Green a few years ago and he was saying how he was offered 20k a week while others on the bench were earing 80k a week, he almost left West Ham as a result.
