Darren Lewis hasn't been very reliable for Spurs transfer stuff over the last couple of years so wouldn't put too much stock in this report.

Tottenham eye Said Benrahma transfer as Brentford braced for BMW break up

The Bees have slapped a £25million price tag on the Algerian schemer following their Championship playoff final defeat to Fulham, with Premier League suitors queuing up

Spurs are set to enter the race for £16million Said Benrahma with Brentford set to break up their famed BMW strike force.

The Algerian playmaker, Bryan Mbeumo and Ollie Watkins scored 58 goals between them to shoot the Bees to the brink of the Premier League.

Fulham, however, beat them in Tuesday night’s Play-Off Final with Watkins missing out on the Golden Boot.

With Benrahma determined to play in the top flight, it means the Bees will not listen to offers for one of their prize assets.

West Ham are big admirers of the 24-year-old playmaker but need to sell before they can buy as they are among several Premier League clubs currently battling a cash crisis.

The Hammers have also prioritised strengthening their defence, meaning Spurs could steal a march in the race for Benrahma.

Although Jose Mourinho has warned that they are “not going to spend rivers of money” during the current transfer window, the club borrowed £175million of government cash in June to respond to the financial destruction of the Covid-19 crisis.

Benrahma contributed 17 goals and eight assists to Brentford’s promotion push this season. He has already told the club of his determination to play Premier League football next season.

Although Chelsea and Arsenal have been linked with him, Arsenal are closing in on the signing of Blues winger Willian while Chelsea have already snapped up Hakim Ziyech from Ajax.

Leeds and Aston Villa are also keen with Benrahma having worked with Villa boss Dean Smith at Griffin Park.

Villa are set to invest heavily this summer having survived the drop.

Brentford had slapped a £25million on Benrahma’s head but, should that fee drop to a more realistic £16million, as has been mooted, it would still represent a big profit on the man they signed for just £2.7million from French club Nice in 2018.

Yes please. Could be the type of difference-maker we need in attack. Currently we don't have a player who can dribble/pass like him in our attacking ranks.

He looks decent. Not sure why we need another right footed winger cutting off from the left though, considering Son and Bergwijn primarily operate in that role.

He is a good player, he would offer something that we don't have He can go past players for fun and his delivery from out wide is very good, I have been a fan for a while but I am not sure where he would fit into a Mourinho side but it would be fascinating not to mention fun finding out

All for it He has a similar style to Mahrez but from the left. Extra quality to compete as doesn't look like Willian now. Bergweijn and moura right wing, benrahma and son left wing.

Not seen much of him but after this linked I watched a YouTube video.

I'm convinced his the lovechild of pele and messi. Youtube compilations are silly but he has the most impressive one I've ever seen!
