I was sent a DVD last week of all the Internacional Libertadores games and finished watching it today.

He may have gone unnoticed by some quarters of the press, but I think we have signed a real talent.

I hadn't seen him play for a year and he's improved considerably.

Couldn't agree more. Someone on here compared him to Veira and I think that comparrison is very apt. High energy with good control and maturity way beyond his years. I think he could play a critical part in our season to come.

I think the signing of VDV came at the right time (and probably Gallas, too), and should take the spotlight and a lot of the pressure off of him - and that should be a good thing. WOuld have been far worse if he had been our only signing.

Players of his ilk shouldn't be superstars, they should be quietly effective, and bloody well missed when they have gone.

I absolutely agree and have been saying it for a while now. For £6m it is a great signing and I genuinely believe he is going to be the captain of Brasil.

I think he is the kind of player that would enjoy the challenge of things being stacked up against him to be honest. Earlier in the season the press started to get a little negative towards him and he seemed to take it well and hit back on the pitch. He is a guy who doesn't seem intimidated by more senior players and actually looks like he learns from games.

Viagra could score a few goals. So far have not seen any video clip of Sandro shooting, let alone scoring.

We may have gotten lucky on the Diarra/Scott Parker front if Sandro turns out as good as we hope.

It was unfortunate he didn't really arrive until the end of the transfer window, as it would've been good for Harry and the rest to have a couple weeks with him to see if they actually did need another defensive/holding midfielder or whether Sandro was up to the job in the near future.

He looks quality from what we've seen at Internacional and he's been making all the right sounds noises regarding the transfer so far! I wish Brazil was playing this weekend to get a sneak preview, but looking forward to seeing him and Van der Vaart in action!

Why were the press getting negative on him ?

He seemed to go through a dip in form. It was around the time that there was a lot of interest from us and I am not sure whether that affected him. But he seemed to take the criticism on board and came back better.

One thing I'm a little worried about is the lack of rest- he's just finished the Copa and only had two weeks off. Two things I hope for:

1) We don't expect too much too quickly.
2) We actually give him a legitimate shot. I really hope Harry doesn't take an early dislike to him and not actually see if he's worth it. I really want to see him starting a couple games against the likes of West Brom, Birmingham, etc.

I wouldn't worry about the rest thing at all. He had a 6 week break during the world cup (not that much difference than between the end of the season and preseason) and has only played 14 games since February. He's 21 and will be as fresh as anyone.

The other 2 points are valid but I really think if he isn't in the first team squad, he'll do whatever it takes to get there. He comes across as very grounded and determined. He seems genuinely excited by the challenge of being here.

He seemed to play with a lot more freedom from when I've seen him before. His passing is actually very good and his tackling is spot on. Technically he's excellent and he's very comfortable with the ball and shields it very well. He's an intelligent player too. Like him

He's probably more rested than the rest of our team, who have played 2 games a week for the last month.

Surely he'll be in and around the first team. He's young yeah but if he was say 25 and we'd signed a midfielder from the south american continental champions, with the usual caveats about adapting to England, that's not an inferior league to Croatia or somesuch. I am probably doing exactly the wrong thing in getting hyped up about him!

There is a bonus with the fact that Gomes is with us to kind of mentor him and help with our lingo - allegedly.

I'm really looking forward to seeing this fellah in action.

Could he replace Palacios as someone who can get stuck in when we are up against it? Just thinking about how much steel we would have if him and Hudd played together.

Sandro, on the face of things, appears to be more of a player who gets the ball back due to his superior positional sense rather than just by getting stuck in. Though he's 6'2 and fairly massively built - so he could be a colossus for us! This is the summer signing I'm most excited about for the long term. He could be a superb foil for Huddlestone (but of course after about 3 games everyone will be convinced they can't play together and that'll be that... I hope not though!)

I just cant see him getting a many games this year unless we drop palacios. and even then hes gonna be fighting for a place with Huddlestone once modric is back
