I would love him back, it would spurs Kane on as he would see it as good healthy competition! Not just on the golf course
You never know!
I think it would be a statement of intent (cue the posts analysing his injury record)
Based on the most recent ITK about loans, Bale is the most obvious attractive loan (to us). Can’t think who else we’d be interested in.

The City buy-back/sell on would make the deal a bit more difficult.

10 years between posts btw.

I wasn't totally convinced by Luiz back then, as though he was a talented 12 year old, I wasn't sure he was the right fit for us. So I waited.

Transfer fees are less of strain on finances than a 31 year old on 150k a week for two years with a few million in signing on fees. We are already overflowing with attacking players son , glc, bergwijn, dele, moura, lamely why do we need willian? That money could be spent elsewhere. This isn't football manager where you can flog a whole team in one window and buy 10 World class players you have to use your budget wisely in areas of most need and look to the future.

I have clearly written he will in come as a replacement of moura/lamela .. doesn't matter what signing on fee or whatever the wage we give him .. it will be still lower than spending 50m on an experienced premier league attacking midfielder ..

Bayern didn't get sane last season .. what they did was they took perisic on loan rather than buying another young winger instead of sane ... Perisic has 6 goals and 10 assists this season for them.. Bayern got the experience and end product from perisic this season and they brought Sane after the end of perisic loan... It's not like they waited for sane and didn't bring anyone ... They brought Perisic to mitigate the impace of not buying sane and when they bought sane, their loan deal with perisic has ended ... That's how smart and trophy winning clubs work around transfer window ... Not like spurs who even though 3 midfield choices got injured, didn't buy or loan any midfielder for two season(17-18,18-19) ... Too smart of a football club

Scary to think that Mourinho thinks we don't need a big investment.

A few players can make a big difference. I think we would look a competely different side if we could strength a few key positions.

Using recent Spurs history and add the Carrick that went to United, the Walker we sold to City and the Rose of 3 years ago and it's a massive improvement.

Time for a proper rebuild. Yes, it can be done outside of Football Manager, and like Mourinho said we’re going to have to be creative and cute in the transfer market. I’ve seen reports of us looking to bring around 5 guys in, and think that makes decent sense.

DM - Declan Rice
RB - Max Aarons.
FWD/AM - Willian, Eze
ST - Ollie Watkins

DM - For our primary target, I’d go balls deep for Declan Rice. Yeah we’ll have to splash serious cash to land him, but we’ve got players to sell to raise funds. If we do get it done, between him, GLC, and Ndombele our midfield would have proper balance and be sorted for the next 5+ seasons.
West Ham could help us get this done by going down.

RB - Max Aarons in, Serge Aurier out. KWP either sticks around next season and fights for a place, or we shift him [Jose has already mentioned either situation could happen]

If KWP is shifted, I’d look to bring in Max’s good buddy Jayden Bogle and let them duke it out for the spot.

AM - Willian and Eze in, Lucas and Lamela out.

This is an area we can get cute and creative. Willian has been in great form and has been a massive pain in the side for us over the years. Mourinho and him get on and I’d love to have him on the squad. Signing him as a free transfer would be huge for us and would allow us to raise funds for other transfers [Rice] by shifting Lucas.

There’s been recent ITK about Eze and it seems like we’ve been tracking him for a long time. With only 1 year left on his contract and Luke Amos used as a makeweight, it sounds like we could be signing him for a knockdown fee. He’d take Lamela’s place in the squad and once again allow us to raise funds by selling Coco.

ST - Jose has a decision to make, whether he wants to sign a backup striker or give Troy a chance.

I’d love to just throw Troy in the deep end like Ireland is doing for him and United is doing for Greenwood. But if Troy’s not our striker solution, pissing away 30m+ on a backup ST would make this rebuild difficult when we know damn well Kane will play nearly every match he’s fit. I’d suggest we stick to trying to recruit a veteran striker like Pukki or take a punt on a striker in the Championship like Ollie Watkins or another league like the Eredivisie so we’re not breaking the bank.

CB - With Dier and Tanganga’s emergence this season I don’t think we’ll be dipping into the CB market this summer irregardless of whether we keep Foyth or not. 4 senior CBs should do [Davies and Rice can also deputize].

Most of this sounds good, but west ham prob won't sell us Rice and I really feel like the extra striker signing is a priority.

I agree re: Declan. West Ham have a hard on against us but at the end of the day money talks and if we could put together an ambitious bid for player and club we might be able to get it done, especially if a miracle happens and they go down.

He’d truly be an ubelievable signing for us though and would walk right into our XI.

It seems like Rice might be eager to move on and with Chelsea and Man United seemingly having other extremely pricey priorities I’m not sure how he’ll fit in. City and Liverpool don’t need him, so that likely would leave us and Arsenal. I also think in this scenario with Aarons, Sessegnon, Dier, Tanganga, Winks, Eze, Dele, Kane, etc. we’d be building a strong England contingent again which could be attractive to both him and Southgate. Food for thought.

OK, as usual, the rebuild/transfer stuff and ITK creeps into threads where it shouldn't so as usual, we'll lock this until the window closes.

Nobody is stopping you from talking about all this in the Transfer Rumours forums, so please head on over there.

And do read the rules. Please.

Thanks.
