Sorry I've not seen any of our pre season games.

What position has Sigurdsson been played in so far?

Thank you. I read somewhere that he was played on the right.

He has looked very good to me so far and if we can get in a couple of intelligent strikers I think he will flourish further.

VDV played 1st game also in front 3
okay, not having seen any pre-season games, sounds like Spurs are playing 4-3-3? not a 4-2-3-1? I hear "lone striker" bandied about here, so is it then 4-5-1?

now that's out of the way, VDV as lone striker? or is that bale on the LW and VDV on the RW with some striker in the middle?

can you help me (us) and lay out the formation with the names in the appropriate position?

First game was Sigurdsson in a deeper central 2 with Rafa further forward. When Rafa came off injured he moved forward into VDVs role. He continued in that role against Liverpool.

He saw more of the ball in the deeper positions and put in a great cross for Bales goal against LA. He looked more threatening when he got further forward though. Should've scored against LA in the 2nd half arriving into the box, probably scores when he's fully up to speed.

His only mistake came against LA with his back to goal receiving the ball from the keeper where he gave it away, but that's a typical pre-season mistake.

He had a solid game against Liverpool there without really standing out. Still seems to be finding his feet. He looks good further forward providing through balls and arriving into the box.

It's the 4-2-3-1 system we played last season with Defoe filling in for Ade, VDV in behind, 2 wingers and 2 central midfielders. Gylfi started in the Modric position until Rafa came off, then moved into the more advanced role.

vs Galaxy
Livermore----Gylfi
Townsend--------VDV--------Bale

vs Liverpool

Livermore----Jenas
Lennon--------Gylfi--------Bale

In midfield or up front?

i thought it was 4-2-3-1 with Bale - Van Der Vaart - Siguardsson behind Defoe

but could have been 4-3-3 with Sigurdsson AM and Van Der Vaart forward

Livermore and Townsend CM's

If you are playing a 4-2-3-1, which seems to be what we are doing (although depending on transfers that might change), then that attacking 3 should be anything but static. Bale, Siggi and VDV should be able to play in any band/channel as long as the others know where they are and adjust. So Bale goes central, somebody shifts left. I would think of it as Bale - Siggi - VDV although Siggi might be the one to spend the least amount of time in that central channel. He'll be adjusting to Bale and VDV more. But if Sandro or CB were to make a run, I would see Bale (due to speed) being the better to hold back for defensive help if needed.

He played the VDV role against Liverpool and Kane was very isolated. I don't like 4-4-1-1 :-(

Kane up top is very different to Adebayor though. I'm sure the system would work a lot better with Ade up top.

We were at our best when Bale came back over to the left and started to get at the fullback and put some crosses into the box. I like Sigurdsson playing those through balls to the wingers and then arriving into the box. I think he'll get a fair few goals from Bale and Lennon cut backs into the box.

Is he right footed?

Could he not fill in on the left wing if Bale is injured as Krancjar did/
