A year is a long time in football and for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Oliver Skipp that's truer than for most. Just over 12 months ago, a then 17-year-old Skipp was named among the travelling group of academy players to join Mauricio Pochettino's first team squad on their pre-season tour to the USA.

Lovely stuff.
Of course he's an inspiration to those below him.
They can all hope to be Skippy and dream of being Harry.

Very enjoyable read. Similar to winks in terms of modesty and politeness.

A really well written (if long) article that was an interesting read about the life of a young man trying to forge a career as a professional football player. Ollie Skipp seems to have a good plan, completing his education and talking about having things to fall back on.

It's so satisfying watching players who have grown up through the Tottenham Academy making a success for themselves, whether at Spurs or not. But of course, all the sweeter when they succeed with us.

Back in the mid-late 1970s, Chris Hughton was playing for Spurs as an amateur while he did his apprenticeship/college course as a lift engineer. He only became a professional player once he got all the qualifications he needed for a trade in case his footie career didn't work out for him. It's no coincidence that he's one of the more sensible people in the game.

nice interesting piece, seems a level headed young man who can go as far as he can and will work to achieve it. Only just 19 as well
