I haven't seen a thread on it, so apologies if there's already one that I missed.

Anyway, simple question:

How will Bale do in Madrid?

Will he light up La Liga and the Champs League, or will he have a limited impact like some of the other UK players who ended up at the Bernabeu?

What do you guys think?

He will see way less of the ball but he'll do good I think. Has everything to do well.

I hope he will be pretty good, not sure I want him to be phenomenal I want him to look at Spurs and wonder "What if I had stayed"

I think he'll take a while to settle and struggle to show his best form

Nobody is going to care. You should be aware of that from the reaction to the other threads.

Fear for him a bit tbh.

- it sounds like half the people there don't especially want him.
- no pre season and with that sort of fee he will be expected to perform straight away
- he won't be the big fish anymore which he seemed to thrive on last year
- Ronaldo isn't going to share the free kicks too happily
- won't have the level of freedom on the pitch he had at spurs and that was when he seemed to really move on

Good luck to him whatever, he could have handled it better but meh, doesn't really matter to us anymore COYS

I still like Bale, I know what he has done and put us through has been awful to watch, no doubt. Yet without him we wouldn't have done well in the Champions League a few seasons ago, and we wouldn't have seen our dramatic improvement in the league table. Bale really did help put Spurs on the map, in commercial fields as well as football. We have a lot to be thankful for.

I don't think he will do well in Madrid to be fair, he was the star with us, but now he undoubtedly will be second fiddle to a certain number 7, and it is yet to be seen how long it will take him, or even if he will be able to adjust to that. They'll never love him as much as we did too.

If he fails, I'd more than happily have him back at Spurs, he's a world class player.

The shit is going to hit the fan and he's going to realise very quickly that he isn't as good as people say he is and that there will be players in the squad that won't be happy because their mate is being squeezed out because of his (unnecessary) arrival.

His mentality will see him fail or succeed to a certain degree but ultimately they don't need him and Perez is again creating problems for his coach.

I think he'll perform well. Players will give him space and the slow pace of the game will make him seem even faster. Refs will give him more protection.

I doubt he'd live up to expectations though. Who could? Probably will stay a few years get a couple of medals and then come back to the Premier League.

He will be a fucking disaster.

He is simply not ready yet, despite is shity behaviour recently, if AVB and Levy don't sell him, that is possibly the best thing friends can do.

I don't mean to sound mean-spirited or anything, but I really don't care. He has pushed and pushed for this, so it's totally down to him to do what he can to succeed. I mean, I wish him well, because he's been brilliant for us, but now he's gone and we all need to move on.

He's gonna have to play 2nd fiddle to Ronaldo and his ego and they players won't trust him with the ball as a result of this he won't be in the game much and the fans will get on his back, he will settle down though as he has all the tools to succeed.

Well, he can't afford to go missing in games as often as he did for us. Last season he was an epic goal threat, but if you look at his assists and time on the ball, you've got to wonder.

He won't be able to play that game with them. They won't let him have that much freedom.

I think he'l do well but will have to get used to being second fiddle which could help. Spurs will do better though.

He will be in a front 3 of Ronaldo Ozil and him, with Benzema up top. He will score a lot of goals like the West Ham one and provide a lot of flashy stuff, but will he outshine Ronaldo? No. Do the fans/team want him there? No for the most part. At least Modric will keep him company.
