He was linked to Spurs before he went to Leverkusen and a few Spurs fans wanted Spurs to sign him back then. He did the most sensible thing though, and rather than go for the biggst pay-check he went to a "better" club in the Bundesliga - which at that time was more conducive to his own development as a player.
Would like Spurs to sign him. It would also be good for the shirt-sale etc. in the Asian market.

Would love to sign this kid, watched a lot of Bundesliga football and he is most at home as left sided wing forward in a 4-3-3. Not sure if it would affect any possible deal for Jay Rod though, who as long as he can show recovery from injury, I would prefer.

Not seen him in Germany but have seen him play half a dozen times for Korea, including live. He has great pace, and is ok in the air, but remains pretty erratic with both feet. A risky one, if it comes off, but as someone else more or less said he would be good value in Korean merchandise and perhaps even sponsorship. LG did the deal with Leverkusen because he signed for them...

Not sure about all this "brilliant" being thrown around with reagards to the guy.

He's decent and the Bundesliga is an easy place to play if you have a bit of pace about you, particularly at Leverkusen. Most teams would rather commit forward in attack than be more conservative and protect against the counter. That's given players like Son, Kiessling, Sam, Schurrle, and the rest of the attacking players who've done well at Leverkusen n recent years, chance after chance to attak 3v3/3v2 with half a pitch still ahead of them.

If he could put in the same kind of form with us then he'd be a great signing but I think it's unlikely and given that we've already got similar players struggling for an end product I'd rather we aimed higher or got no one at all.

Would prefer Bellerabi, even if this is his breakout year. Would be more of a risk but man he's explosive. To be honest, any of him, Son or Calhanoglu would be great, but I'd take L.Bender over all of them (wouldn't buy the shirt though)

You mean you would play Lars Bender, a DMF, as a WF...?

I'm going to assume you're winding me up, but just to reassure you anyway no, I would buy him to play as a DMF. Think he is exactly what we need, would take him over Schneiderlin for sure and he would possibly command a smaller fee/wages too

How do you explain his good form in the CL then?

This guy is sheer class. He is the answer to all our problems. Buy him now levy. Get rid of poch and everyone else, just get him in the team, he will literally solve every problem we have at the club.

So, what position does this guy play or is he a manager or something?

What do you think our chances of signing Bender would be?

In terms of negotiating a fee with Leverkusen, I don't think it would be a problem, German clubs are notorious for undervaluing their own players. In terms of him agreeing to come, it's hard to say. He's in a position where he gets guaranteed CL football every year, but I think he'd also be aware that their ceiling is CL and maybe quarter finals of that at best. They have a small squad, and don't stand a chance of winning the Bundesliga any time soon, and I think he'd also be aware that if any good teams come in for any of Leverkusen's stars then they'd be off. If we were to make an offer in January for example, I'd say he'd consider joining, though it would be dependent on who else offered. Arsenal would be a more attractive prospect for example.

Yea I assume he'd have Arsenal and other suitors larger than ourselves after him and I doubt our ability to compete with the other clubs interested in him

On the plus side, I'm sure Holtby will put in a good word for us.. :cautious:

Can't say I've watched him in the CL this season, to be honest. It was just my own observations having watched Leverkusen a number of times in the Bundesliga.

I'm not trying to act like I watch loads of European football, I've just always liked Leverkusen so I watch them whenever I can get the chance.

Son's name hasn't come up too recently but he'd be one I'd favour greatly to join Spurs. He can play centre, left or right. He's young. He can score goals too. On top of that he comes from Korea and his ability to generate shirt sales & interest in Tottenham Hotspur in the Far East would be second to none in my opinion. That's a bonus.

His playing ability is what's most important and I'd hope that Mitchell will be looking closely at making a bid for this player.
