A lifeline before half time. But JM needs to have a tactics rethink. Can;t play like that again in the 2nd half. A poor, but effort loaded Southampton look like they have a midfield of Pirlo and Messi.....

One of Winks or Hojbjerg really need hooking at half time. Moura bang average today. Would hook if no improvement after 10 mins for Stevie B.

A glimpse of what Ndombele is capable of. 1 well timed and precise pass makes such a difference to players like Son and Kane.

Lets see what JM can do in the engine room 2nd half.

Feels like it is groundhog day. We play shit and have a few mins where we look dangerous and then back to shit.

Centre backs are awful and Davies is fucking awful. Winks and Holjberg are plodders and Moura has been bumbly as per.

Shame we only have 3 subs but Lo Celso needs to come on and Bergwijn needs to be introduced at some stage. This game highlights that we need a real presence in midfield as Tanguy is the only one who is good on the ball but we need someone to win the midfield battle and Holjberg and Winks are just dog-shit.

The rest of the team - not so good. I get that Harry Winks is a Tottenham boy and a hard working, nice lad, but his form since Poch left has quite frankly been pathetic.

If Alli is off and we can raise a bit more cash from PSG - we could really do with getting another playmaker in midfield

Winks cannot come out after half time.

Once again he’s taking no responsibility in the midfield. He ruined a counter attack by leaving a ball assuming Kane would take the onus when he was making a run for Winks to build the counter.

Jogging around the pitch, no pressing, no composure, nothing. Get this idiot off the pitch.

He was a novelty when we brought him on as a young fella in the bernabeau to supplement a great team that was on the crest of a wave.

To build your team around him for a 38 game season .........nah. He's 5/10 in every metric

You’re right, so far he’s been fine, he’s just guilty of being part of that not good enough group but atleast we’ve sorted that issue.

Think Tanguy has played well atleast he makes forward passes unlike winks. Take winks off. Love Moura but prefer Bergwyn

Still early enough in the season to sack Jose and bring in someone who plays football with what is an amazing squad now
But he'll get the full season which I guess he should.

He'll only get a full season if we muddle on in the top 1/3rd of the table for most of it.

I’m usually not one to angst in the match thread, but tactically we are clueless. Its like Jose watched the tape, saw we were good on the transition, and set up the team with that singular goal. We are good in transition, but that can’t be our entire style of play. All our success under Poch came with a high press, high line, And high intensity style. When we lost that everything went to crap. So now we sit in a low block with no press. We look listless because we never keep the ball. Our defense isn’t strong enough to keep teams out. We get the ball and we kick it long. We’ll win some games on the back of Son running behind teams on the transition, but we won’t win enough or consistently.

We’ve not been as bad as the stats suggest - we have actually had the ball in the net three times.

Yeah, we haven’t been anywhere near as bad as some of the chicken little’s in this thread are making out. We’ve not been great either but we could easily be winning this.

Don’t think Lo Celso will replace Winks yet. Sissoko might though, with GLC on later for Tanguy.

Our defence genuinely terrifies me, not just our defenders on an individual level but collectively. Biggest worry for me is that it looked like we were turning a corner post lock down but we've just reverted to type.

Sissoko on for Lucas and go 442 with Son joining Kane up front. Get Ndombele on the ball as much as possible.

I agree, we are losing the physical battle out there and we lack aggression.

When we can get hold of the ball we are better.
