Its been said the player and spurs in agreement but the two clubs have yet to reach agreement well you know what happens next as I said on another thread we reached agreement with Mallinson / Grealish /Dybala / Bruno Fernandes / and what happened zilch nothing nought nil zero so if I was you I would hope that the normal trend of Levy will be broken . I won't be holding my breath but even if he does come he would still owe the fans 2 or 3 more signings .

UNITED STILL IN TALKS FOR FERNANDES
Manchester United remain in talks with Sporting Lisbon for Bruno Fernandes
Unitedare willing to pay just over £46m, but Sporting Lisbon’s valuation has still yet to be met.
On Thursday, we reported that the two sides were as much as £10m apart in their valuation.

If this were a Spurs deal, we'd be having the place swarmed by bitter fans ranting on about Levy and ENIC being cheap and braying "just pay the price, Levy!" and "here we go again, another failed deal coming up" similar sloped-forehead bollocks.

Not that there's anything like that on this thread, or other current potential transfer threads. Oh no.

All teams do it. It's called negotiating.

It's horseshit that we lose out on more transfers than other clubs because of refusing to meet other clubs' unreasonable asking prices. It's horseshit that the club suffers from ENIC and Levy refusing to invest in the squad (or the academy, or the stadium, or the training ground...). And the people here who keep insisting that this falsehood is true are twisted, bitter and entitled.

It has never been about transfer fees, as the repeated breaking of our transfer-fee record over the past several years proves. It has always been about salaries and turnover. The cure for that was a larger stadium, which we now have. But we will continue to do what every major club does, which is to bargain hard with our competitors before completing deals.

Thank you, Mrs Levy

Levy is tight etc... is the go to narrative for desperate and intolerant Spurs fans all over social media - you'll never change their minds.

I have been complaining lately about Levy but the piece by davidmatzdorf has brought me to my senses and I am going to stand firmly behind Levy as I always have previously I now feel a bit stupid for weakening in the force of the views of the entitled .

Who the feck is Mallinson? If that's supposed to be Maddison, as far as it goes on here I don't think we have ever been linked with him beyond red top stuff (Hercules recently said Poch didn't rate him).

The net spend for the last 5 years has spurs sitting 17th in the table which will explain why levy and the owners receive criticism. Please see the table below:

Ah the "Net Spend" argument is out again.

If only we simply gave away our best players instead of asking for money - at least we'd look far more ambitious! /s

For the point of mentioning, by the way, that table is complete bollocks. Tell me how the ranking works? for example, Liverpool have spent less but are 7th.

Just lookin at YouTube vids ( the most we can do because none of us are watching Dutch football) he looks like a Adam traore a bit in play style which would be preferable over Lucas .
Doesn't solve the biggest problem of DM, full backs, and backup striker however

I think he’s intended to take Eriksen’s spot in the squad. If Eriksen really is about to leave he we be needed.

5 goals in 26 games though? Yea a pwopa Kane replacement....
At present, we don't need one of those - and one would probably not sign for us, with Kane in the wings, waiting to return.

What we need is a no. 9 to hold up the ball and bring our very capable goal-scoring, speedy attacking players into play: Son, Lucas, Dele, Lo Celso, etc.

Pursuant to that, I'm more interested in Bergwijn's healthy tally of assists than his goal-scoring. Not that he sounds much like a no. 9, mind.

Mainly, what we need to do is to sign good players when they are available and good value. If there is no DM available who meets our needs, then we shouldn't refrain from signing a winger we like, just because he isn't our top priority position.

We have the stadium. We have the money. We can pay the salaries now. We need to get used to different business reality.
