Would love to see it happen actually, not being funny but if so many other countries can do it why on earth can't we get our house in order to do it as well?
Would fit in well with the new stadium!

Would be nice if the PL consented to this before it's too late to change the stadium plans, and have to do a costly conversion to bring it in.
Perhaps 1-2 blocks within the stadium could be offered intially for safe standing, but other blocks within the stadium could be designed to be convertible should demand be there?

If we do go ahead with the stadium design that we've all seen, how cool would it be to have the 'kop' end all standing! Be an amazing atmosphere.

Because of Hillsborough. The Hillsborough Family Support Group have already attacked plans to introduce safe standing into football stadiums. As the chair of the Hillsborough Family Support Group says "People have a right to argue for it, that's their opinion. But I think the families have more of a right to argue against it because we have lost our loved ones."

Until they and their supporters realise safe standing has very little in common with the terraces of old I can't see the FA allowing standing back in top flight football.

I'm sorry to sound harsh, but isn't that like saying flying in planes should be banned or sailing on a liner should be banned because people have died in accidents? I think as far as standing at football goes, we should start looking forward instead of back.

Can't see this ever happening. Authority never reverses it's control mechanisms. Ever. & make no mistake making everyone sit is a control mechanism now

Hillsborough was/is a poorly designed ground with an appalling police force and very probably drunken/ticketless Mickeys.

Bring back standing.

In a brand new stadium it should be easy to make a purpose built standing area.

You can put as much safety/security as is needed. It really is a no brainer for me.

As with most things in football, the germans do it perfectly, let's copy them.

As I am sure everybody realises, that is a completely fatuous argument. It will, however, carry some weight because of people who make the decision about safe standing (politicians) care more about how they are perceived than making correct decisions.

I will be amazed if safe standing is introduced in England in the foreseeable future.

My understanding of Hillsborough was that it was the fences rather than standing that caused the deaths, combined with too many people trying to get in. As long as you had appropriate controls on tickets and security, standing would be no more or less dangerous than sitting.

With the new safe standing arrangements, probably safer, as it is far easier to have a crush of people and/or injuries caused in an area where rows of seats and not barriers are the only impediment to movement forwards or back.
