Anyone got a Times sub to add detail to this intro? Sounds intriguing

"Tottenham Hotspur have drawn up secret plans to build the biggest club stadium in London after obtaining a crucial piece of land that is the subject of an intense legal challenge, The Times can reveal.

In what will be seen as Tottenham trying to claim the capital’s bragging rights, the club have had discussions about applying for planning permission for a 61,000-seat arena, which would be bigger than the Emirates Stadium, home to Arsenal, their rivals. It could also be used for pop concerts and American football matches."

ARCHWAY STATEMENT ABOUT THE ADJOURNMENT OF THE HIGH COURT HEARING ON 15th JANUARY 2015.

Spurs posted an announcement on their website at 11:40 on 14th January 2015 recording the adjournment of the hearing which was due to commence yesterday.

Their statement is incomplete and fails to make clear that they were in reality responsible for the adjournment yesterday.

This is because it was their delay in providing information that they were ordered by the High Court to provide on 5th January 2015. The deadline under that order was Wednesday 7th January 2015 at 4pm. This information relates to secret discussions between the Club and various public bodies concerning major changes to the Club’s scheme on which the case for Compulsory Purchase of our land was based.

We are advised that this information should have been made public before the decision to confirm the CPO was taken by the Secretary of State and the failure of Haringey and Spurs to provide that information made the decision to confirm the order unlawful and unfair.

Our formal application for a disclosure order was made on 24th November 2014. It followed earlier unsuccessful requests we made in correspondence going back to October 2013 and in requests under the Freedom of Information legislation starting in August 2014.

The required information was finally provided on Monday afternoon (12th January 2015) and the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, as the First Defendant, understandably decided that the information had been disclosed too late for him to prepare fully for the hearing starting yesterday.

We respect that decision in the circumstances, although Archway were themselves perfectly ready and willing for the hearing to go ahead as planned, because the disclosed information vindicated our genuine concerns in this case.

In view of the Club’s incomplete and misleading account of the true reasons for the adjournment, we made a friendly request for a slight amendment to the news item on the their website. This was to ensure that the fans were not misled into believing that we were responsible for the delay, but Spurs refused to make that amendment.

Archway’s makes this clear statement so that Spurs fans, the news media and other interested parties are not misled as to who is responsible for this ongoing delay: clearly, Haringey Council and the secretive directors of Spurs.

The matter has now been adjourned to 17th & 18th February 2015 and we very much look forward to presenting our case then to Mr Justice Dove for a fair hearing.

Sigh. Harry Kane will have retired (clearly having had a long and glorious career, winning several Ballon D'Or awards and leading Spurs to multiple domestic and European titles) before we play our first game in a new home stadium.
Mate if the stadium capacity keeps increasing everytime there is a delay then I'm all for it. By 2020 we may build over the Emirates if we're lucky :D
And if we don't have a team worthy of playing in it, it will be only be two thirds full. Can't think of anything worse than a new soulless bowl stadium with thousands of empty seats.

Sounds like cobblers to me just another delaying tactic, we all knew the stadium design has been modified and we all know that we wanted to demolish the old buildings by Warmington house but weren;t allowed to so we adjusted and continued.
Archway are just using this public knowledge as a technicality, there were no secret talks there were confidential talks, of course the club weren't going to make all discussions public that's rediculous and Archway know it, the judge however can't assume that so it has to be done in triplicate with all I's dotted and T's crossed, all part of their delaying plan and it won't stop the stadium build, just Lawyers doing their job, I just hope they are charged costs.

Very interesting if true. Although they could be making it up- BUT I think that may not be the case when you look at the article.

So they say that they need to tell the public about the new plans and suddenly a few days after a Times article essentially leaking new details comes out. A bit convenient, isn't it? Maybe they will release new plans before the hearing- and if they are amazing, it could put more pressure on Archway.

Random ramble, but plausible IMO.

This is starting to sound like Moutinho.

Are there actually plans? Seems like it is a never ending farcical con job.

Totally agree. The Monaco midfielder has been banging on about dodgy stadium deals for years.

Purple I'm not sure what the doh rating is for. Maybe you should google Moutinho to find out who he is?

The whole stadium planning saga in the last 20 odd years stinks

We should have redeveloped WHL to 48,000. The increased revenue over the last 15 or so seasons could have helped to fund a big new shiny stadium, if that's what they really wanted

For Tottenham Hotspur to have had a ground capacity of only 36,000 for all these years is disgusting

Fear we might lose something with sharing with NFL. Like how a timeshare isn't fully yours. A spiritual home, inhabited by others historically doesn't usually sit well.

The extra income sounds as if it will be substantial, and might see us compete. Or it might drain the soul of the club. No amount of money is worth that.
