Off to Tenerife for a week & want a good bar to watch the games: -

Sat-23/02 1230 - Away @ Burnley
Wed-27/02 2000 - Away @ Chelsea

I'll be home for the Arse :cautious: ... :woot::shy:

Any one know anywhere they'd recommend? I'll be based around Playas de Americas.

You're a 2 minute walk from my apartment! So yeah, walk down the hill, over the motorway bridge and The Pub is on the left hand side - 10 minute walk max

If you've never been on holiday I can highly recommend it. The govt. gives you 20 days a year and an additional 11 or so bank/ public holidays. You should really take advantage of this right as it was hard won over 100 years ago.

I go regularly on holiday; as I like to see different cultures, and I've been to different regions of Spain over 10 times; but since I'm stuck at a resort with 3 generations of my gf's family I might as well enjoy the days when Spurs play and watch them over a beer. Otherwise my days will be torn between keeping a 10 year old busy with trips up the volcano, whale watching, off road buggy adventures, and exploring the pyramids on the island (which apparently may or may not be fake) and the grand-mother's desire to sit by the pool & drink beer.

So while I can watch Spurs here, I thought it might be nice to meet up with a few from this Community and enjoy a game.

The best 'nawty' lads trips I did in my late teens was during France 98, and they had the matches on a giant screen. It was belting. And of course on top of that you got lovely weather, did some scuba diving, and enjoyed the company of a fit Norwegian lass.

Either way @michaelden I hope you all enjoy a well deserved holiday.

Don't bother with the pyramids

If you've got kids in tow then I'm afraid you're in tourist hell.. so, make the most of it

Siam Park, Loro Park, Teide (hopefully the wind stays down and you can get up the cable car), Whale & Dolphin watching (dolphins not guaranteed, pilot whales normally are), if you can get a car, take a drive to masca (unless mountain roads with no barriers give you the shits). The north of the island is where the "cities" are (they are the size of Milton Keynes, can't really call them cities) the south is where the Sun and beaches are. Steer clear of Veronicas unless you want to get ripped off paying 15 euros for watered down beer.

Dorada is the beer they make on the island, it can be potent if you're not used to Spanish alcohol!

The buggy adventures are great fun, but again really expensive, you might come away disappointed as it doesn't feel like much time spent buggying!

Otherwise, eat, drink & be merry! You're in a good part of town for food and drink, if it's still open I recommend Otello II for garlic chicken, it's about 6 euros! If you want more fancy pants restaurants, take a look at Molino Blanco (White windmill) or Coeur de Filet - booking will be needed in both, and make sure you've got double what you normally pay for a meal, but the food is awesome in both.

Los Christianos is best for shopping, if that's your thing, you'll get some bargains down there, but beware, you'll also get some knock off stuff at full price, so check everything carefully.

Can't think of anything else for now, if anything strikes me I'll post again! Enjoy tho, the weather will be good, the beer cheap and the water warm!

Thank you. Sent all that to the gf so we can plan better.

I saw a Mountain biking experience, they drive you up the volcano, or part way, and you downhill back to base. That sounded fun and everyone but the grandma will do it. She can get a day by the pool. Renting a car sounds like a good option. Might only get it for a day or 2 to see other parts of the island.

The 10 yr old has saved up nearly €200 from birthday, xmas & doing chores! She's keen to hit the shops.

We're planning a day at the waterpark, Sian is meant to be the best according to reviews, and she wants to do parasailing (behind the boat parachute thingy) but would need to be with an adult & her mum & I are not great with heights... I might man up or not.

Siam Park is the best water park in Europe, second only to the Siam Park in Dubai. The best ride there is the dragon... 0g!!!! There is also the Tower of Power that takes you up 100 feet and then drops you in a shark tank (tube through the tank, no risk of being eaten)!!! Siam is a day trip though, so depends if you want a full day taken by a water park. There's restaurants, bars, a beach with wave machine thingy there so it's not all thrills and spills - it's a nice day, but can get full on!

The parasailing is all over Torviscas beach, I don't even know if they'll force you to have an adult on the chute, health and safety isn't Tenerife's number 1 concern normally!

Well the 10 yr old, Lacie, is well happy now. She's watched those 2 videos and a few more and is planning the order of the rides we're doing... we're :cautious: ... kids these days, such high expectations and they're so easily shattered :smug:

I can't do that to her. Her mum isn't a swimmer & neither is her nan so I'm going to be going on all the rides. Saying that, she's great at making friends her age so maybe she'll meet a group and they can all play together. She's seen the wave pool, wants to do that and the slow tube ride too, but mostly the 2 biggest slides.

One thing that's just struck me - check the age requirements - some of these rides you have to be X tall or Y years old.. double check before going so you don't break her heart after an hour queueing

I will do. She's over 140 cm so can go on all the Thorpe Park rides but I'll check ahead. Cheers.
