We still need Chelsea to do us a favour and bet Arsenal in the FA Cup Final. If Chelsea win we go straight into the group stage (that starts mid-October). If Arsenal win, they go straight to the group stage and we have to play at least two qualifying rounds in September).

Yes. As I posted above. Depends on whether Arsenal win the FA Cup. And potentially whether Wolves win Europa League (no precedence set there yet).

Pot 1 is confirmed. We only need to be in the top 12 Europa sides on coefficient, and we're currently 13th overall in Europe. A couple of sides can still overtake us but nearly all above us have already qualified for the Champions League.

It's way too early to consider our chances really but we should certainly go for it. With the Champions League experience we are now better positioned to win it. Not to mention a serial winner in Jose to lead us. If we get through the group as we should then we will fear no Champions League dropouts in the final stages. We qualified through the CL group stage the last 3 seasons so should be good enough to beat any 3rd place teams from that competition.

If Arsenal win the competition then Spurs will start their Europa League journey in the second qualifying round, with a behind closed doors one-legged tie on September 17, with the Gunners going into the group stage.

The third qualifying round follows the following week on September 24 and then the play-offs come on another week later October 1. All the qualifying rounds contain one-legged matches.

However, if Chelsea win the FA Cup then as they are already in the Champions League, Spurs would go straight into the group stages of the Europa League, which begin on October 22, and it would be Wolves who enter in the second qualifying round.

Chelsea winning against Wolves and Arsenal so that we secure Europa a small consolation for 2012?
