Spurs in America

Are there any fellow LA yids here? i'm thinking the fox and hound is the place where most los angeles based tottenham fans will watch the game.

I just realised that I'm on holiday touring California/Nevada when the Carling Cup Final is played - I think we'll either be in Vegas (good chance of sports bar!) or Death Valley (errrrrrr..... bad planning?). What are my chances of getting to see the game on tv? Will any sports bars be open showing the game at breakfast time? - seriously thinking of changing itinarary if that's what it takes. Would appreciate info from any Stateside Yids, and will of course consult the oracle that is Geez.

i wonder what's worse - being on holiday during carling cup final (bad planning) or being at work at this time (bosses on holiday)... :bang:

hope that you will find a place to watch it. if not, you can always rely on txts from me...

take care and have a safe rest of the trip!

 come on you spurs

Hey Keane. I lived in Charleston for 12 years. Go back once a year to see my favourite mother-in-law. They finally have a bar that shows the games. At least on Fox and Setanta, though right now they have only 2 screens. Because of the chemical industry there, they have a few europeans. I helped to start their adult league back in 1977.

Anyone from Columbus, Ohioish? Looking for people to go to the pub with to watch the Final.

Simple solution. Check out the LA Spurs website. It is on page one of this thread I believe.

I'm screwed though. The only places that show Setanta is a chain restaurant/sports bar and won't be opening that early in the morning. The English pub here is run by a Liverpool ex-pat and only opens early typically for the Pool. F-that. I have to figure something out.

For anyone that this may effect (Central Virginia Residents).

I have been in contact with Penny Lane Pub here in Downtown Richmond, VA. They are looking into opening early and showing the match. I should know sometime today (Friday, 2/22/08) if they will be showing the match. I will post here when I find out.

Come On You Spurs!

Edit: I will be drinking with some Scousers watching the match tomorrow.:beer::beer::clap::beer: :clap:COYS!:hump:

"Here is the official word: "Joe and Terry will both be in at 9:30am Sunday for the game (10am kickoff) along with a few of the regular lads. So you know Terry will let anyone in that shows up to watch the game. So we won't be officially open, but Terry will be here to pour a few pint for whomever shows up to watch."
Spread the word!

Hi,

I'm having to go to San Mateo on business during April and will be there for the home game against Bolton.(Could be a blessing ,after that insult of a performance against the B'codes). I'll be close to San Francisco that weekend and was wondering if there is a Spurs supporters bar where I can watch the game with fellow sufferers.
Cheers

Thank you very much.
I'll find out whether the game is on live or time delayed and go from there.
Hopefully I'll watch the game with some liken-minded folks.

I'm also a Spurs supporter in San Francisco, the only places I have found to watch games is at the ManCity Pub. We need our own place in this city! So if anyone has any info on supporters groups or a place to wacth a game with some fellow yiddos please enlighten me...

Can someone please change the name of this thread, because America is actually a continent, not only a country or the United States and Canada. Very upsetting.

Technically the thread title is right. It depends on the terminology. In English the word America means the United States, as it refers solely to a citizen of or a resident in the USA.

If this thread was for the entire continent then it would be Spurs in the Americas or Spurs in North America.

OK,

THE place for all Yids to watch Spurs in SF is Danny Coyles on Haight St...

You can also go to The Mad Dog in The Fog or The Kezar Pub, but Danny Coyles is run by ex-Park Laner Steve...

No it's not. South America is a continent. North America is a continent. But America is not a continent. See we call be pissy and PC.

It's common vernacular to call the US America in English. Deal with it.

It's a big sign of ignorance and a misleading claim (to call the US "America"), specially when you are dealing with people from all over the world as it happens in this forum.

To consider North and South America as continents is something which only happens in Anglo countries. For Latin American countries (which are over 90% of the American countries) America is one big piece of a continent and we celebrate its discovery on the 12th of October, the day of the Discovery of America, not only North, Central or South America. Check both the Spanish and English wikipedia versions for "America" and you'll see. Furthermore, the official organization which congregates ALL of the American countries (from South, Central and North America) is the OAS (or OEA in the three other official languages). The OEA officially established as a sovereign entity that America is a continent composed of three subcontinents: North, Central and South America.

Anyways, the name of the thread is erratic because it says Spurs in America and that could be any part of either North, Central or South America. Could a forum administrator please change its name for both a practical reason as well as for being accurate with geopolitical facts. Spurs in the United States should do it and everyone happy. Thanks very much.

Name changed to the Springsteen sounding Spurs in the USA specifically because there is already a Spurs in Canada thread

I see your point; however, this is an English forum and the Spanish version of the "America's" really shouldn't be relevant. I am typing in English as are you. Also, the thread was refering to an Anglo country. Anyone that refers to America in the singular form is talking about the US. No one worldwide would consider it anything else. Hell, even the Middle-East refers to the US as "America."

Your politically correct statement is extremely dramatic.
