Spurs players hiding behind Pochettino's loyalty and letting him down

The Argentine stood up for his players once again but they don't deserve it.
Sometimes you just want Mauricio Pochettino to get angry after an insipid Tottenham Hotspur performance.
You want him to call out those who are letting the side down and show that Latin passion he displays on the touchline at times.

Slating players in public, on the whole, is counterproductive. One has to assume that he doesn't hold back in the dressing room but it's hard to know what would be achieved by letting all and sundry know. Really, the most practical way of dealing with underperforming players is to take them out of the firing line but where does one start with this current side?

If you’re not going to change players at home against Watford you’re never going to do it. Which to me says everything you need to know about the manager at the moment.

Does it look like he’s even trying to start this ‘painful rebuild’?

A manager who openly speaks about leaving selects four defenders that either aren’t wanted or want out. Is anyone the least bit surprised we’re in a mess?

Sorry but half those players deserve a public slating and a very public dropping.

Agree public slamming is counterproductive so thats a no for me.
Players need to be dropped.
Keep picking them and expecting a different outcome is madness.
All those that arent committed need dropping. Thats Eriksen, Toby, Verts and Rose also has been unsettled as we made he clear he can go.
We need a proper DM in front of the back 4 and Winks and Sissoko are not the answer.
Thats basically 3 of our back 4 and a DM needs changing and as we havent actually got a proper recognised RB plus our first choice GK is fked we really are up shit creek without a paddle.

Agree with all of that apart from us being up shit creek. If Poch makes the changes suggested and is half as good a manager as everyone says he is, we still have a decent squad and should expect to see an upturn in results and performances.

I recall watching Guardiola in the Amazon docu-series tell his players that he'll always defend them in the media, but he'll be quite blunt & critical in private.

I hope this is the case at the training ground, but after yesterday's team & formation selection, that hope is rapidly disappearing. Mid-week has surely got see a number of personnel changes: Lo Celso, Sessegnon, Ndombele have to play. How do the first 2 ever develop match fitness, if they never play. Drop Toby, Aurier, Rose & keep Eriksen away from the team.

Our play is pedestrian & lacking in urgency. No intensity or desire. Its the same old rhetoric being mentioned over & over again.

I must admit to wonder why Pochettinho seems reluctant to fast track the rebuild. I reckon if he did that the fans would understand and allow him the space but when he continually picks players that let him down constantly he risks the sack and back lash from fans...On the other hand we're not in the know to some of the players contract obligations.

I do sense Pochettinho is waiting for the right moment to phase in the next team but he might not be given the time way things are going.

I know that Poch's references to being brave have been interpreted in different ways and none of us know for sure what he means but certainly it doesn't seem to be manifesting itself in his selections or style of play.

Since Poch spoke about quitting if we had won the EU, the bite and the spark and the belief just left. Even Harry has been a shadow of his old self.

Wrong game mate, you must be talking about rounders with that famous Northern Irish backstop - can't for the life of me remember their name though!

We weren't playing well and getting results before that, decline started about the time we played Burnley back end of last season.

We'd been poor before that but Burnley/Mike Dean was when the wheels properly fell off IMO.

The players would know that for a manager to publicly talk about leaving means he is on his way sooner or later.
They are naturally unsettled.

It's never a good idea to say anything about your players in an interview. I certainly hope he's giving them a fucking rollocking in the changing room though.

Poch stays, those that want to waltz through their games...they can fuck off.
