Once again, the grass is always greener...

So we get rid, a team on the continent want to pay him something closer to his price than us - there's no guarantee we'll get a better replacement for the same sort of money we'd get for him, and they would almost certainly want similar if not more wages. He's not dead wood by any means, we've seen he's got a game in him, and there's no replacement in the squad pushing to step up.

If Jose wants rid (which I doubt as Jose has declared his love for the guy in the past) and has tapped up someone else, fair enough, there's a plan there, but didn't we learn anything from the Trippier situation? Just declaring our squad not good enough to be paid what is rapidly becoming a pretty average wage for a player at a club that wants to be challenging in the Champions League each season doesn't fix anything, it just creates more questions.

Fully expect him to sign somewhere in the middle, with a lot of clauses attached to performance, etc. as, personally, i feel all contracts should be.

When negotiating the first rule is to go higher than you want to get.

If there's any truth in it, which is debatable, I'd say that's a tad ambitious considering he's played a handful of decent games for us in the past couple of seasons.

Hasn't been the same player since returning from the 2018 World Cup.

Could get his £120k if Poch goes to Newcastle and their takeover finally happens. Won't get that money anywhere else.

No, putting it out there that he might be keen on a move if he doesn’t get a wage increase.

So the agent is behind the

It’s just agents talk and part of negotiations nothing unusual

Who cares, if there’s interest in him let’s sell. Like Dele he isn’t performing any longer.

That not what I’m saying at all.
Dier’s agent who works for Dier is doing his job and trying to get Dier the best contract he can.
Dier is our best CB ATM so we should definitely try to keep him.

Maybe when Jose said he was a key player at central defence next season, he’s thinking he’s worth more than he actually is. Can’t see him getting into any other top six club, although he may get a game for the Goons. If he does go, he’ll maybe go uphill on money, but downhill in his chances of winning anything.

Mate, the fact that he is our strongest CB speaks volumes about the quality in our squad. I love Diers attitude but his ability doesn’t justify a new contract in my view. For the wages he will potentially want, I would rather spend on young, hungry players.

Fair enough that’s your opinion. I think Dier could be turned into a good CB

Fair play to you too. I hope he comes good, I just tense up when he’s playing as I feel there’s always a mistake in him. Not how I felt about Toby and Verts in their prime, which was confident 95% of the time!
