TEAM FORM:--Spurs DWWWL -------Everton DWLDW ----- (All competitions)

Everton ended 12th last term and know a big improvement is required. With so little time from the end of the 2019-20 season to the start of this new campaign, it is unclear what shape they will be in heading into this contest, given the condensed pre-season schedule. They have only had a couple of games to prepare for the new campaign, drawing with Blackpool before beating Preston North End, but there were positives to take from both encounters.

Everton, have been guilty of not getting out of the blocks quickly enough in games and they have been forced to work hard to get back into contests. However the Toffees have definitely shown more grit and determination under Carlo Ancelotti, who has installed a good attitude in the squad now, and they have battled back from a goal down to earn draws in two of their last five league outings.

Everton boast some good attacking talent, with Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin sharing 26 Premier League goals last term, and the duo will be hoping to get off to a positive start.

After finishing the last campaign in sixth position, we will be hoping to mount a stronger challenge for the top four. We have generally started games positively under Jose Mourinho and we have scored the opening goal in four of our last six league games.

However, we showed frailties when going ahead last season and we allowed Crystal Palace to hit back for a draw in the final game of the 2019-20 campaign, while this same happened against Manchester United in June.

Of our four friendlies, we won our first three – beating Ipswich Town, Reading and Birmingham – before losing the final match 2-1 to Championship outfit Watford.

Kane scored 18 league goals last season and he was ably backed up by Son Heung-Min, who netted 11 times in 30 top-flight appearances. We scored 61 league goals in the 2019-20, the sixth-highest tally in the division, and we have hit the back of the net in their previous eight home league matches.

Here we go again!!

We need a good start this season. Will be an interesting game as they have made a few signings this week. Hopefully they will take time to settle in. We have a great record against them so let's keep that going.

So excited for this season. I dont know why!

Can't call this one at all.

Some of our key players having to play two internationals this week and not training with our squad doesn't fill me with confidence.

Everton's new midfield seems balanced but fingers crossed they won't have time to gel.

Imagine it will be a disjointed game.

For people not following transfers. Everton have signed allan the brasilian defensive mid from napoli and doucoure the box to box mid from watford as well as james rodriguez from real.

Who knows how quickly they will click but that midfield pairing makes them far, far better than last season immediately (imo).

It should be a really good game. Who knows on the relative fitness of the squads though.

A new season, more balanced squad. My optimism.has peaked.

0-0.

Jokes aside. Everton just didnt click at all last season. I dont know much about their new additions, but hopefully spurs have enough in the tank to turn them over. Itll be a narrow victory if they do.

I'll go 1-0 to spurs, dele gets us off to a winning start

The optimism we should have is that we may be a bit more settled than Everton's new midfield? Probably better in my eyes that we are playing them this week then in a few weeks if that MF three is firing on all cylinders. I still think their back line isn't the strongest.

Glad we are facing them early before their midfield gets to grips with eachother, Hoping for a pragmatic Jose 2-0 win.

James just a show pony. Failed at Madrid and Bayern six years since he was any good. No doubt he will score the odd brilliant goal but that’s about it.

Good time to play them, all of their new players will have hardly even trained together because of the international break. Confident we can beat them. Solid 2-0 I reckon, Dele with a brace.

Like others have mentioned, good time to play them before their new signings are settled. I do think CL and Richarlson will cause problems with their speed. I'm confident Jose will have the defense ready, just need Sonny and Kane to have their shooting boots on and I see this a comfortable 3-1 win.

It's funny how people shit themselves with other Clubs new signings and think they'll be far stronger immediately, but with ours their expectations don't change.

We've signed two class players ourselves who will strengthen an already superior side to Everton's.

That said it's a tricky enough looking fixture but I'm going 3-1 Spurs.

Kane brace and Lucas.

It's the classic pessimistic approach to being a fan. I see people shitting themselves because Arsenal have two talented young CB's also. Anyone remember the hype around Sanchez and Foyth when they arrived? Anything can happen with young defenders, but people get too caught up in the current hype to see the big picture.

Everton made big name moves but Allen has never played in the PL so who knows how he adjusts and James is a hit or miss player. I can easily see him being like Chicharito at West Ham with all the hype but just an average player.

I think the lad from Watford will prove to be a good signing for them, but yeah I agree with you for sure.

Curious to see if Docoure, Allan or Rodriguez will feature. Hoping for that first win of the season and that we have a fit squad
