I thought Lo Celso and Winks were outstanding today. I would like to see Ndombele replace Deli who really is not the player he was a couple of seasons ago and strolls around games with no real effect. There is the occasional bit of brilliance but not enough to warrant a regular place.
I wish we had an alternative to Aurier I close my eyes every time he makes a tackle but Mourinho obviously likes him. I still don't know why we let Walker-Peters go out on loan.
A great result but their 18 attempts to our 3 does put it in perspective but who cares?

KWP needed minutes, the hope is he is a starter at the saints and if he's great, then great for us!

Jenas actually said ‘Sterling has to go down there and ask the question’ then proceeds to say it was the right decision. Er Jermaine, that’s what a dive is. His fall wasn’t natural (if you are tripped you don’t fall onto your knees with an upright torso). It was a dive
Honestly mate, pretty much every professional footballer seems to accept that if you feel even the slightest amount of contact you fall over.

I actually don't particularly disagree with Jenas' assessment there.

EDIT: I think after having listened to the punditry I think people are hearing things how they want to hear, or to get annoyed.

Jenas says that, for him Sterling wasn't a red card but the way in which VAR has been applied he was surprised he wasn't sent off. That Sterling went down early, and Pen inconclusive so correct decision.

No one says that Man city had 18 shots on target, but 18 shots on goal. Which is accurate. Jenas pointed out how well our midfield worked and defended, and Richards that Man city created a lot but lacked a killer instinct.

I was also very happy Jenas pointed out Winks´ performance because I felt exactly the same way!

I thought the punditry was fairly well balanced and not picking on any team. You may not agree with it, but I thought it was fine!

I believe the words we are looking for are "Come On You Fucking Spurs". This is the type of game we would have lost before everyone's second favourite team and manager In Poch. , yet we have this ability now to be wee shits and teams hate us... I love it. We haven't been this hated across the board.

Long live Jose and the revolution to be a team to be feared.

Well done the boys tonight. Winks, Lo Celso and Tanganga where unreal.

The solution starting to become clearer?

  • Mourinho's first 9 matches: 15 goals conceded
  • Mourinho's next 9 matches: 6 goals conceded

The problem definitely becoming clearer:

  • Mourinho's first 9 matches: 21 goals scored
  • Mourinho's next 9 matches: 10 goals scored
I suspect defence, rather than attack, may be his training/coaching priority at the moment. As your post indicates there are some green shoots on that front

With Kane out we may well score less...

Agreed on the MOTD coverage. The Sky team of Carragher and Sourness were a hard watch. Hughton also on the punditry team showed an intelligence and grace that made them look childish/sulky

Mixed feelings, so happy about the result, we need to improve our record dramatically against the other big 6 so this is great start, but VAR left a really sour taste, was used shockingly bad today, worse than any ref performance ever as they had the time and information to make the correct red call. Also calling a pen 2 or 3 mins later, ridiculous, what if we had scored in that time?

Anyone else hate the way Sky go looking for Asian fans in the crowd everytime Son scores? Wtf is that about?
Im just watching game back.
I don't have a problem with that, you have to understand how big Son is across Korea and Asia in general, he is absolutely fucking huge not to mention that there are thousands of Koreans at every game now and they are part of the make up of our crowd. Honestly mate you don't spot one or two here and there they are literally everywhere, it's pretty fantastic actually and great for our club.

I hear you but does the camera pan to our Brazilian fans when Moura scores, or our Argentine guests when Lamela or Lo Ceslo scores? No it does not. While I love to have them here, I too find it irritating bordering on condescending when the Camera always pans to our Korean friends when Son scores.

Great result, rode our luck at times, but most sides do against City who have lost some of their gloss.

LoCelso by far the best player out there today.

Son is the Asian player of the year in a country that have a limited amount of players playing in the worlds top leagues. They are very proud in Korea. Brazil and Argentina have produced countless world stars. Where are all these Brazilian and Argie fans anyway?

To be fair, it's harder to pick out the Argies and Brazilians. Sonny has his own massive, devout fan base.

We rode our luck twice, maybe 3 times. The penalty & Toby’s block. Lloris’ save on Aguero was great skill. Other than that, City were blunted by Jose’s masterful tactics in this one. Helped by a brilliant goal by Bergwijn & a Son goal, we won 2-0 keeping a cleansheet in a game where The Mike Dean Show rolled on in the Prem doing his best to help City who could have been down to 9

It's a little irritating, but not as much this, when the game is in progress, so you miss what is happening on the pitch:
- showing numerous replays - usually of nothing much
- showing either or both managers whenever the commentator mentions them
- showing the official holding up the board when we've just been told how many minutes have been added (we fucking know what it looks like)
- random crowd shots
No matter how bad we play, it always pisses me off more when the idiot TV directors cut away from the action while the game is going on and I miss the thing that I've paid good money to watch. You don't see it in any other sport that I've noticed; why the fuck do they think it's okay to do it with football?

Rant over.
