Really good half and yet it feels poor. We should probably be 3-0 up with some of the chances we have created, Dier missing that free header being the worst offence imo.

Insert Bale/Reguilon/Ndombele for Lucas/Davies/Winks and you have a team that will take nearly maximum points from the 24 matches against the bottom 12 teams in the league.

Good value for the lead at the break, shame its not more. Best first half ive seen us play in ages. Good shape and movement. Keep it up COYS

Bound to be a couple of "fuckin' 'ell guys" going around the changing room at the moment, need to bury this.

Excellent first half. Bodes well, generally as well as today. Tempo, movement, pressing - everything better.

My only complaint is we didn't score more.

However I do think our movement has been much slicker in and around the penalty area - no surprise with Lo Celso in there.

Winks has been a bit more aggressive today which has been great to see.

Hojbjerg has been very good at playing through the lines and getting out to pressure oncomers.

Doherty looks dangerous as soon as he comes inside and gets into that half space, you can see Newcastle panic a bit.

Kane has been super, his passing, the way he uses his body to create space or improvise.

Sonny has been much more lively and made better choices with the ball.

Lucas, ok, needs to do more and stop giving the ball away so easily, especially in transition.

I can’t believe any team could be worse than Newcastle in that first half. Not sure they are even on the pitch. How we haven’t pressed the accelerator to get three or four I will never know. Has the feeling of a game we will struggle to get across the line in. Hope I am wrong!

Think that was the best 45 under mourinho.
Controlled possession, good shape, and good attacking moves.
Think out new signings have both been really good that half too.

Newcastle have been so poor but we have been equally wasteful in attack. I fully expect them to nick a jammy goal in the 2nd half and walk away with a share of the spoils

Sanchez very impressive. Often leaving Wilson on the floor (fairly) with the majority of their battles.

Dealing superbly with the physical nature of Wilson. Both him and Dier have won a lot of first balls too! Long may it continue.

Really good first half, could easily have been 4 up if a couple of those shots that hit the bar/Darlow saved went in.

Hopefully we get a couple of goals early in the half and get Kane off in the 70th so he’s fit for Tuesday

Solid, Newcastle are a depressing team to watch but we’ve controlled the game... need to put the game to bed early second half and save legs for Tuesday
